Cardboard Car Ramp (sort of)

Just moved and couldn't find the 2 x 12s I use to clear enough space for my bulky jack. Lots of moving boxes though, so I improvised. Crazy but it worked! (The ramps there are my secondary safety net in case a jack stand decides to fail.)

No real point to this thread except some silliness.

I am going to keep this in mind, as even with 2x10s, I can't get close to the front jack point with my "low profile" jack. Thanks!

"Necessity is the mother of invention."

We recently relocated to Tennessee, and luckily the moving company agreed to load my Z4 onto the van with the household belongings. The driver was an experienced corporate mover, and used moving blankets to add height under the front wheels when loading and unloading the Z. I wish I had taken pics, but I was too busy watching the crew unload the car.

This was the easy part at the top of the ramps...

Thanks. Hanging around the forum with some very sharp people has taught me a thing or two about thinking of alternate solutions!

Took the red one for a "check out" drive with my Jack Russell--she's a real kick, and I have to keep her from goading me into going too fast. She's always wanting me to go fast, and gives disapproving looks when I'm not totally smooth. Gs, acceleration, deceleration--she loves it and anticipates and leans. (Securely set in her car seat of course.) I think she'd have a blast at the track, not that I'd ever do that from a safety perspective.

I'll have to post some video--the roads just outside my front door are a sport's car dream.

Wow. A smart and experienced mover. Usually we hear about how someone's fangs were scrapped to hell and back on a move!

Thanks! She's kind of lurking in the background...

The really nice thing about the boxes was that even given slippery concrete I didn't fight with the usual slippage of wood (solved with anti-slip drawer material). I was able to really wedge in the cardboard and no drama. I'm going to keep a my new "ramp" available in the garage rafters. Obviously not for use in wet weather though!
