Whats up everyone, finally joining the site after reading silently for a year. Looking forward to sharing/stealing ideas with everyone. I've got an 06 Z4 3.0si roadster with ~65k miles that I've had for a bout a year.

I bought my 1st E86 in 2014 and stupidly agreed to sell it in 2016!

So 2 days later I got my current one, which isn't going anywhere.

Montego Blue with Pearl Grey leather and E89 Style 295 wheels - lovely!

Both are pretty rare beasts. Even so I'd recommend holding out for M Sport suspension and seats. And the 6-speed of course. :shifthappens:

Good luck! Keep us updated on your progress.

Hello all, I dont own 1 yet but looking at a few used Z4's. Couple questions maybe you all can answer.
Upkeep? Expensive or are they pretty reliable cars?
What kind of mileage do these guys last, odometer wise, not too concerned about gas.

The E85 has some minor issues the can appear over time like control arm bushings and of course the ever popular roof motor failure. The n52 engine is pretty well bulletproof. Just sold my 3.0si after 6 years and never had any major problems. Change oil, drive car, like that.

We'll see if my new 2006 Z4M is as reliable.

Hello All, long time lurker, first time poster. I have a couple issues and I think the good folks here might have the wisdom to help. My 08 Z4 Coupe recently had the front left strut replaced as well as the rear right coil spring and now I'm having a memory steering problem. Make a left turn, car pulls left until I make a right turn and "even it out" and vice versa.

This is after getting it aligned. The shop said it might be because my tires are old and unevenly worn. So I planned to get new tires anyway, hopefully that will solve it. But I'm wondering if anyone might have another idea about what would cause this memory steering problem.

I should note that my friend replaced the strut and spring with me using aftermarket parts. I'm not the wealthiest BMW owner, but the Z4 coupe is my dream car so I'm trying to make it work, lol. When we replaced the front strut there was this rubber/foam bumper that went on top and though it was pretty beat up and torn I didn't have a replacement for it, so we just put it back - friend doesn't think that would be the cause of the alignment issue I'm facing now.

My secondary issue, AC heating/cooling takes forever to become hot or cold.

Sorry this post got so long, I might go make my own thread. Any input you have would be greatly appreciated

Welcome ZeeOrZed. So you only replaced one strut, and one coil spring on the opposite corner? I'd be more surprised if it drove normally after doing that! Not a good idea to replace a single strut while leaving a worn one in place on the same axle.. and a far better solution than just replacing one would be to do all four, especially if they are older. Coil spring may or may not be causing a problem as they generally don't "wear" like a strut does, so you could start with dealing with the struts and see how it drives.. but with it all apart, I'd do the springs too, at least both on the rear, if not all 4.

Good luck!

Had a similar problem decades ago with my TR7.
Front top strut bearings were sticking.
