Looking for a Shop in the Bay Area

Hey guys, I'm Chris. New here. Glad this resource exists!
I bought my 2004 Z4 last August. Soon after, the top stopped working. Dealer quotes 3K to fix! I have had no luck with the red pull ring "manual mode" although I'd be fine with living with the manual style roof. I've seen a guide to cutting the hydro lines to release the pressure so that the top will open, but not sure I want to go that way.
I know that the focus here is DIY, but I am finding it very difficult to find a shop near me that can help with this issue. Even specialized European shops won't touch it. I did find one willing to look at it but quoted me a probable price that was higher than the dealer!
Anyone know of a shop in the SF Bay Area that can help without costing me a fortune? Any help is much appreciated!

Try calling around to Bavarian Motorsport (Milpitas), Edge Motorworks (Mtn View / Dublin) or Trackspec Autosports. Unsure if any of those can solve your issue but they will definitely have a solid recommendation.

Try AD AutoWerks in Santa Clara. Small shop, does good work.

Bumping this old thread to include The Driveway to the list for south bay dwellers.

These guys have done work on my Miata/S2k ragtop a while back. They do good work. Also, they are familiar with Z3/Z4.

+1 for Edge, both locations.

Adding GS Tuning in Santa Rosa if you're in the north bay.

Been taking all my cars to AM AUTOMOTIVE on commercial street since 2010.

Always got an honest diagnosis and lowest repair bills.

Just a couple notes. Edge Motorwerks in Mountain View moved to Fremont. The other is in Dublin. Also despite the same name and very similar logo they are no long affiliated. Both places are good though from what I've heard.
