The 1x1 or 2x2 is the size of the weave, not the weave itself. The square / regular weave is when it just looks checkerboard style, and the twill weave is the stripe looking style.

I might be incorrect on the size... but I was told by one of our frame engineers the 1x1 weave was the super-fine micro looking weave. ( I work for a bike company that builds high end carbon road bikes )
