motorized convertible top

My first post on the forum. Just purchased 2004 Z4 3.0i. Convertible top was functioning perfectly, now has stopped. Lights up on console/dash. Checked the fuses assigned to convertible, all working. Other than the worse case scenario, convertible top motor blown, is there something else I should check?

Welcome to the boards. Make sure you post pics up
Quick checks make sure the trunk tray is down and that switch is working.

There’s also a red bypass pull tab make sure that’s seated

In the trunk near each hinge you will find two black plastic knobs that you can use to raise the tray under the rear window to make more cargo space in the trunk. Doing that locks out the roof motor, as there is then no space for the roof to fold down into. Check to see that these knobs have the tray in the lowest position so that the roof motor isn’t locked out.

I appreciate the reply. I checked it and it was in the lowest position. Maybe it is the motor itself. Still hope not. Do convertible top motor usually give some indication it's going out, as in getting slower, or is it's M.O. that it can be working just fine and then go out instantly.

Check your drains for clogs. When mine went it was sluggish and louder than it normally is prior to just flat out dying. Did it rain recently or had a car wash?

Hey

Let's start at the beginning.

You press top down and...nothing happens, or does the top release from the windshield and then nothing or after releasing from the windshield you can hearing a motor running but the top does not move. What color lights light up??
