DKF hangers

i got these hangers to better adjust my rpi tips and to reduce some vibration, although i dont find it vibrates too much with the rpi exhaust. really, i just wanted to get my tips sitting the same and tighter to the body. i received the hangers yesterday, and just wanted to post that these are quality pieces. they seem pricey for exhaust hangers, but the finish and welds are top notch. the service was great and they responded to any questions right away. even emailed me to see if i had recieved them alright. looking forward to putting these on

I've got a set sitting around as well! I have to agree the build quality looks top notch and I hope they make exhaust tip alignment easier for us anal people. Let us know how the adjustments help out. I won't be installing for a long time as I have a huge list of things before I get to these.

My hunch for best results is to install the DKF hanger and connection to X pipe a tad loose. Then adjust exhaust tips to desired position with wood blocks and jack. When tips are aligned to one's preference, tighten connection to X pipe first, then lastly tighten DKF hanger. Remove blocks and exhaust should sit perfectly. Then repeat on other side.

no the osolator is the rubber part with the bolts ... the rubber is jointed to the bolt... Tq this piece to tight and you'll rip it clean out the isolator... just a nice nip on this piece :-)

So I decided to install my Arqray exhaust this weekend using the DKF hangers.

The DKF hangers definitely help in alignment. I would say they help more so in the side to side positioning. I think they help out in the up and down also, but more in the sense that they don't work against you like the OEM hanger can. The up and down alignment is primarily accomplished with the bolt connections on the X-pipe and the DKF hanger simply allows the alignment to happen more easily and doesn't try to push the tips down the way the OEM hangers might. So I guess in my opinion the DKF hangers "support" the tip's up and down alignment versus being the source of up/down alignment... if that makes sense.

For install I found it easier to mount both hangers to the muffler prior to muffler install (there is an OEM hanger and the DKF hanger per muffler). I installed the DKF hanger onto the muffler in the upper most position, meaning to try and make the tips be as high as possible. I found this upper most setting to be ideal and helps work against gravity. Then I raised the muffler onto the car. I hand tightened the DKF hanger onto the car just to keep it in place while I hand tightened the other connections. There is still an OEM hanger that remains on the muffler. This OEM hanger was the first thing that I did tighten down to spec since it's not adjustable. I will say that on my Arqray there was some adjustability at this OEM hanger and I did adjust it at the highest position on the Arqray side of things. On the OEM muffler there is no adjustability for this OEM hanger.

The next thing I did was use a jack to set the tips to my preference. I found it best to set them about 1/8th of an inch higher than I actually wanted to allow for "droopage" once the jack was removed.

After setting the height with the jack, I tightened the two X-bolts. These bolts should be tightened together because they constantly try to change the position of the tips. I went back and forth to tighten them together. Tightening the upper bolt makes the tips want to go up and the bottom bolt makes the tips want to go down... so you just tighten them together. Towards the end I did tighten the upper one a bit more to make sure the tips wouldn't droop. These bolts shouldn't be too tight. There is a donut gasket in there and you don't want to completely crush it. So be careful with that.

At this point I removed the jack and checked the height of the tips. I tried to set the side to side setting perfectly but they did move a little with the tightening of the X-pipe bolts. This is where the DKF hangers are great. I had only hand tightened the DKF hangers onto the car. I slightly loosened the hand tightened nuts so I could easily move the tips side to side. I made sure they were perfect and then tightened the two nuts so the DKF hanger was tight against the car. Be careful here because you don't want to over-torque these nuts. I used some lock thread here because I really didn't want to over-tighten these nuts yet I also didn't want them to back out from not being too tight. If you over-tighten them you can increase vibration into the trunk.

One more note. The DKF hangers do nothing for making the tips stick out more (or in more). This setting is simply not possible. The tips stick out almost an inch more once the exhaust is hot so that isn't a constant setting anyway.

Overall my experience was great. I was able to achieve perfect tip alignment easily. I give the DKF hangers an A and a must if you're changing up your exhaust!

Thanks for the review. Any pics? Was there a difference in vibration or sound from oem.

I have yet to install mine. Going to do the hangers at the same time as the brakes

I have not taken any pics but I can. The Arqray I got are the Jasma version. I thought I was buying US Race Spec but it did not turn out that way. Anyway, there is definitely no additional vibration whatsoever. In fact with this setup I really had to listen hard to notice any difference from stock. I finally did notice a minute difference. I am talking a very small difference in sound from the mufflers. No difference as a result of the DKF hangers but I did not have a drone issue since I was coming from stock. My concern was exhaust tip positioning. If I were to try and quantify it, I would say it is about 10% deeper/louder when at more than half throttle. I still need to install my euro headers so I think with that addition in sound I will be happy with the results. I really am very conservative in how loud I want my car to be. The look of these mufflers and tips are awesome. The tips is why I did not choose other cheaper exhaust options.

Well I looked at my tips today and noticed they were misaligned... long story short the rubber part of the bolts is torn. Is there a way to replace that bolt? or should I order another set of bolts with rubber from dkf.

Order another set from DKF.

I think it should be noted that care should be taken to align the tips as best as possible PRIOR to tightening the DKF hanger. Also making sure the rubber part on the DKF hanger is not torqued in a weird angle when tightening the DKF hanger to the car. The rubber part should sit perpendicular to the muffler mount. If the rubber part is under stress at rest it'll only be stressed more when the exhaust moves.

I hope the expansion of the metal pipes due to heat is not stressing the DKF rubber part too much since the pipes end up moving towards the rear about an inch. Only time will tell!

This has not been a problem as of yet
The most important thing is not to over torque them. The Isolators were specifically chosen to meet the requirements the exhaust will place on them.

no i agree.... i dont see this being an issue, the tips grow but once red hot i can see the isolator position is still identical to when cold. As long as the Tq is good on the isolator i can this being good for a very long time.

dubsesd... any updates on your DKF hangers? Did you install them? Did you run into any issues during the install process? Did they mitigate the RPI drone issue? Any updates would be appreciated.

Also, how do you like the RPI exhaust now that you've had them on the car for a while. Are you still liking the sound? Has the sound changed with time and use?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Any updates on how they worked out with the RPI? Did it do anything for the vibration?

Actually, I just installed them last night lol. Slight difference in sound, but big improvement on vibration. You don't "feel" the exhaust anymore at idle and the car feels smoother.

Also, I had to grind off the nut that's welded on to the rpi hanger in order to install the dkf hanger.
