E85 Hardtops For Sale

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 3,500.00

Item Interest
Skyer Motorsport just informed me they are ready to fabricate hardtops for the E85 if we can find 13 committed buyers willing to spend $3500 plus shipping. Like so many others, I have been looking for a quality hardtop for years. Interested?

That’s more than an OEM one in used market. I’d have to see the quality of CF weave, also what’s the weight savings? Does it install using the oe hardware kit? Any pics…? fyi your link doesn’t work.

This is not about D-Morris hardtop.. We have people asking us to build a hardtop a few times a month.. So just seeing if there's interest

I'd be interested if they could get the cost down to $2000. I'd like a hardtop to use from time to time but $3500 is a bit much IMO.

I want a hard top but don't really need one. At $3,500 that's a something I can do without. But at $2,000 or so I could go for that.

I have one of the OEM tops. For me, and I realize this will be blasphemy, but I actually prefer the lines of the roaster with hardtop over the coupe…I can say that since I have both. Just an opinion.

Cost aside for a moment, the challenge will be the mounting hardware. Is that something that will be included? It doesn’t exist any longer that I know of, so while the hardtop, even a super light one would be great, there has to be a way to attach it to the car. Without leaking of course.

We love ours, too..

The cost will come down as 13 people at $3500 is the only way for us to start this project.

The more people join this initial launch the cheaper it'll become.

As for the prep kit, we can make them and it'll mount like OE.

We can do glass with heat wires or plexi.. It all comes down to cost and what people are willing to pay.

We can do FRP or Carbon.. same thing. It'll come down to cost as well..

Design wise, personally, I'd like to keep it looking like OE hardtop without the spoiler but again, it'll be up to what you guys vote on.

I'd be interested but would like to see a prototype or something. Do you have anything in the works yet?

Are you going to do a nice roof liner like the OEM top?

I think for my car, glass with heat, just like oem, would be the way to go...

There was another hardtop that I think had nicer lines than OEM although I’ve heard folks make less than nice comments about its quality iirc.

Having said that, and this from a roadster owner, I think the E86 coupe is untouchable in the looks area and the E89 is quite alluring as well.

Was that the D Moris one? Lines are the closet to the e86 and I was considering that one for the e85, that is until I added the e86 so yeah there’s nothing imo that’ll beat the e86 lines either.

Yes that’s it the D Moris hardtop. Congrats on the E86 - maybe I’ll do the same one day!

Are these being made in Canada? What's shipping look like to Southern US?

I'd be all over these at $2000-2500, but $3500 has me on the fence.
