I see what you're saying, but I have to side with Bingo on this one.

I believe their main problem is sorting out porpoising, the chassis is de-tuned (raised) to fight this.
You would assume they're at the limit that prevents porpoising from happening.
Since porpoising is high speed induced, it doesn't make sense to go faster on the straights than they are now (with more power).

Once Merc gets the chassis sorted, they will start running - whatever mode charges the batteries faster and eats engines. - not sure what they are doing exactly, but I truly believe they are running the engine hot to produce hotter exhaust to charge the batteries faster than anyone else. ... and that eats engines, but the penalty isn't enough to offset the gains.

Lets see if they can close the gap next few races. Will be great to see a 3 team fight for up front this season. Either way I think we are in for some great racing this season.

I just saw a picture of their wing for Jeddah. They trimmed the tail down a little bit to get a bit less drag/rear down force. They better roll out some major changes in Imola because these changes are barely significant.

Well out of the 7, and 2 second places one in his rookie year, you have a lot to choose from.

None of them was a result of "Human Error" that gifted him a championship though.
