ESS 525 Z4M after full power flex bushing conversion and going with square tires

Just tested out the Z4M after replacing all the key stock bushings(RCAB, RCAB rear upper outer) with power flex( I previously had the turner shim RTAB). Wow the car feels so much more responsive on turn in and the rear communicates much better as well as being more consistent. Also decided to try out running a square tire setup on my staggered wheels because A its cheaper and B the 285 sport cup 2's i normally run are perpetually out of stock. To say she liked the changes is an understatement , went from a 1:19.6 to a 1:18.1 at Roebling Road .

I have been looking at Powerflex for years now and still haven't pulled the trigger on a full set.

Thanks for the review and cool pictures, it's much appreciated.

Thanks ! It def allowed me to finally take full advantage of a very good MCS suspension set up . Pulled lateral 1.34 G's in turn 1 on that 1:18.1 lap . Trofeo R's are a damn good tire as well .

So what tire size are you running? From what I've read, people generally recommend square sizing on E46 M3 but not on the Zed, that's why I just moved from 225/255 to 245/265.
And yes, it looks more like a track car. Can't imagine powerflex would be very enjoyable on the street? Even with my completely stock Z4M I can't say the ride is quite pleasant....depends on the roads I guess.

This was on 265/35/18's all around , but as I mentioned my wheels are still 9/10 inch , so I still have some stagger. No doubt the car was quicker this way though . I have noticed no significant negative effects on ride quality to be honest . I have a really high end shock though that handles poor roads extremely well with a blow off system . The car is still a blast to drive on the road and ours are poor in SC .

Wow, didn't know it could take as wide as 265 in the front.
Do you use THIS suspension? Never heard of them before, but I'm impressed car is still not a pain in the ass to drive on the street. Which variant of the Z4M package did you get or is this a custom build? What about springs? How do you like the ESS 525? (I'm also considering one)

Sorry for the 500 questions.

Yep but you have to run big camber AND run a 5mm spacer to get it to fit . The 265 Trofeo R is pretty much a 275 too ! See it next to a 285 Sport cup 2 . The ESS kit is solid , given my feedback the 525 kit comes with a bigger intercoolers and injectors than it used to. Should be good to go out of the box now. Here is one of the afternoon sessions with my friends who are driving the white C7 Z51 vette and the grey C7 Grand Sport Vette. Later in the session I get caught behind a track prepped 997 Turbo who didn't want me to pass lol so you can see how much power the Z4M has.

LOL ! That was funny...should've just let you pass him for less humiliation.
So the Trofeos are better than Cup? Have you tried Yokohama AD08R? I wonder how good they are since I'm on Super Sports now and can't say I'm really enchanted by their performance, keeping in mind that they are more of a street tire, but still. And how do these fare in the rain on normal roads for example?

That 911 seemed pretty twitchy on some of those turns. Good runs though

How did you find down force with the diffuser? Make a noticeable difference?

If you are looking for a dual purpose DOTR tire ( street ,track, rain ) the Sport Cup 2 is the best choice , it's fast , great feel , decent wear , and actually has good ride quality . The Trofeo R wears faster , is stiffer and is for the dry only , but IS faster on track with better turn in feel . Both are better on track than the AD08 .

I did all the aero at once and yes it def has made a significant difference , the car is much more stable in high speed turns as well under braking .
