Huge frikkin day at the shed today.

I put off the secondary part of the brake master cylinder moving it upwards 25mm with brake ratio change.

Absolutely frikking "cee you next Tuesday" of a job...

Had to remove the pedal box to get access to the fire wall. Had to cut part of the firewall and the pedal box to make the new position for the master cylinder mount. Frikking drilled the first hole about 3mm off center... Grrr... Fixed that up and then redrilled the other holes. I drew up a plan and then went from there...

Pedal box on the inside.

After a bit of modify the firewall.

Mount.

Size: 150.6 KB

And finally...

Then had to Dremel out the new portion of the firewall and notch a small bit of the pedal box frame as it fouls the piston rod.

Hell yeah... What an absolute mind crank that session. Was sooo nuked by the end of it.

Fingers crossed it all works like a champ. The new mounted position is absolutely solid as hell and the pedal box mounts to the original position so the pedals are in the required same spot. Absolutely shit to do job though. Did not enjoy that...

But it's done!!!

No worries, because I am running un-boosted brake master (removed due to inconsistent brake pedal pressure (brake system pre pressurises under certain conditions)) and due to the pressure and movement required to activate the new brake system (un-boosted) it's not possible to apply enough pressure (pre read lbs/per square inch around the fulcrum of the pedal) and as you can't change the fulcrum, but you can change the arm length, which is what I did and changed the brake ratio from (just taking a few numbers here, I'd have to check my design work for the actual numbers I'd the ratio change, but went from somewhere like 4.5 to 7)

This is accomplished by moving the pivot for the master cylinder push rod up by a certain amount, (mine moved up by 28mm on the pedal)

When you do this, you also have to move the master cylinder up by the same amount. (Though I would have liked to move mine upward by 28mm, I was only able to achieve 25mm, calculated not to have to notch the pedal box too much for it to retain its full strength) so we're missing out on 3mm, which isn't so bad, as the requirement of the push rod is to be within 5 degrees of the original position. You can work out the vector work around that, but in a nut shell it comes down to 0.98 pressure going into the desired direction.

However, in our car, moving up the master cylinder comes with its own issues as it's bolted to the pedal box frame on the other side of the firewall. Now moving up the master cylinder, without moving the pedal box is where it be ones difficult as you still require the pedal box to be solid and mounted on the same bolts as pre the master cylinder move.

(By the way, I didn't do the ground work here, just following the many guides and vids available on the net about this subject, I'll link down below)

So modification of the firewall and pedal box frame is required.

Excellent explanation, though a bit tongue in cheek, but the info is solid.

(i couldent find the Skid factory better explanation one anymore)

THIS.IS.INCREDIBLE.
What a massive sea change to the brake pedal system so you can achieve proper (increased) pedal pressure to compensate for the removal of boosted brakes, correct?

Finally back to it after a 2 week break from spannering on the car.

Had to remove the brake pedal again as the spring tension tab was fouling the custom eye bolt.

So yup, cut the tab and reweld it 7mm higher.

Took a while to get it perfect.. now it's sorted
.here's a few quick and dirty mud maps of the new master cylinder mount.

Love the updates Vanne , especially the little anecdotes with the invariably Aussie sayings.

"Mudmaps" ....I can picture a tracker in the outback drawing maps in the mud.

Bit of a break.. time to get back into it.

Ordered new set of lenses.. no use in using the old ones after the car has had its paint jobbie as they look like shit..

The whole headlight modification has completely changed the OEM lights. The parker lights are now the main beams, equipped with some nice led fan forced globes. Just hope it doesn't melt the new lens.

Got the hoses to hook up the catch can finally.

Corpus about the result any pictures of it . Which lenses did you order, do you have a link?

Thinking about changing the inside to black and perhaps some angel eyes.

Interested to know which lens he used also... I just rebuilt mine with some new Chinese lenses off ebay. Fit was great and build quality was frankly perfect minus the "lines" on the lens. The stock head lights have these lines etched into the lens where the inboard lights are. On the stock lenses they are not super visible but on the aftermarket ones they are extra visible.

Vanne's lenses look more like the OEM ones then mine.

A thought....erect just enough of the deck and sneak The Beast under it and sneak down and put in an hour or two and then pop up and work on a handrail

Still struggling with the temp gauge for the diff temp.. not sure what the issue is... Sigh ..

On ignition it rapidly rises to the max end and doesn't come back down untill ignition is off.

I'm not claiming to be expert on that particular setup but my first guess would be on a bad sending unit or shorted/grounded wiring in the sender circuit. Analog gauges typically look at the transducer as a resistor; if there is a short it would max the gauge. Secondarily there could be a mismatch between gauge and sending unit. Fingers crossed!
