Roadster Folding Top Question

How many of you just hit the button and put your top down? Do any of you take a couple of stops and fold the top to minimize wrinkles?

It looks to me that our tops get wrinkles from folding themselves. With the old convertibles we had to stop the top a few times when putting them down to fold the top smooth so it didn't premature wrinkle and crack. It also had to be folded to get it flat enough to get the cover snapped. Used to fold the top as smooth as possible when storing and installing the hardtop for extend use. I was just wondering if any of the folks that have had their roadsters for a long time ever folded their tops to cut down on wrinkle marks or just let nature take it's course.

Wrinkles disappeaer once the car's under the sun for a few hours. I wouldn't stop the soft-top in the middle of closing/opening; I wouldn't want any extra strain for the top frame or motor.

Softop frame & motor. Can you not read? The entire softtop assemly is pretty heavy. What do you think is supporting the weight while the softtop is stopped half-way for 20~30 seconds while you smooth out the wrinkles - every single time you lower the top?

I wish...but it's like stretch marks on fat people. You just have to live with it....Our cars look better without the roof anyways.

2005 roadster, no wrinkles in the top. I just press the button until the light tells me the top has done its thing.
