Well done!
SO many angled surfaces to paint in the interior - having it sprayed is the best option.

Cheers for the enthiusiasim mate, Lol our track season has /just/ finsihed, so i am thinking it will be ready for next season. There might be a day or 2 where we go testing before that, just to see if things holds together. lol. either way, lots of work to go before that stage is reached.

hoping to have the interior back together (lol that means dash and seats and foor rests/belts) over the next 4 weeks or so.

The fire system also still needs to be installed, as does the dash control panel. lots of little things..

So today the 25th/3/2020 we lock down in Dubai, I was able with the help of a good mate to get my car trucked home on the back of a car ambulance from the paintshop. My mate , Adam had to do almost everything except for coughing up the dough, as ive been in lockdown since coming back from ADL on the 19th. Its been a emotional and strange few days since then. A few of you know why, and the moral support is greatly appreciated.

Anyhows, things hopefully looking up soon, and now that the car is home, hopefully be able to make a good start at plugging the inside back together. Lol guess ive at least got something to do aside from running internet school for the kids. (please kill me now)

Yeah strange times.. please keep safe everyone.

Stay safe too Vanne!

Side note: I've never heard the term car ambulance before, sounds way better than "tow truck". 🤣

Performance plastics window in, including the pro slider. Don't mind the frikken dust storm we just had last night.

Hopefully strip the other door tomorrow and then install the pax window with the budget slider.

Awesome Vanne!
Greetings from Seattle....it's continuing to come together....bit by bit; good move to covertly return the car to your garage before lockdown becomes potentially litigious; Seattle looks like a freakin' ghost town.

My goodness this thread is a gold mine! I've been thinking about this exact kit in a fully stripped Z4 M and it's looking amazing so far man! Subbed for sure, best of luck!

Lol spec tech drawing of the Z4m brake pedal flange to brake booster.

Note: no JD&Coke involved with this drawing. Conclusion: maybe need to drink before drawing...
And on other interest.

Window #2 is in.

Hey Vanne... impressed with how the build is coming along!

Would you happen to have a link to where you bought these rear arms? I have been looking but cant seem to find them on the internet.

Ofcourse mate, they are designed by wisefab: the ones I bought were sold by MPC , but they are the same.

https://www.drifthq.com/products/wis...=8933204983855

Unless your looking at a build like mine, go for the straight arm. The angled ones like mine are for an ultra low ride, and notching of the frame is required.
Edit: and modding everything else is required too...

Note to oneself:

The flange is going to be machined by MTR for the custom brake booster delete kit. The original flange that comes with the kit is supposedly for the e46, which is completely different to the Z4M. Kit will be posted togther with the race tie rod ends.
The race tie rod ends are heavy duty made for race preppd e46 m3, but will also fit on the Z4M (we took an educated guess)

Hopefully Mikko will complete the machining this week, and then posted hopefully by next week. Cant wait to get started on the mechanical side of the build.. "Swaps to pilot voice..."ladies and gents, boys and girls, please keep your seatbelts comfortably fastened just ike we do up here at the front as were expectinmg a bumpy ride, we'll try our best to find the best ride through. Just sit back and relax and enjoy the view."

I've been struggling with the fitting of the drivers seat over the last few weeks (in and out of ISO) but have finally got there (i hope), the struggle comes from being rather a bit tall (6'2") and then with the helmet on requiring 2 inches of space between the helmet and the roll bar that runs across the top of the door frame. This v's the view that ill have if i mount the chair all the way down so it clears the helmet. Its a prick.. first I moved my chair as close to the tranny wall as possible. there is now 1cm of space between it and the chair. so can't even get hands in there to bolt shit up. had to weld a makeshift tool to get in there.

Then lowered it as much as possible after removing the slider. Had to angle the seat so its on the lowest selection on the tranny side and 2/3 selection on the door side. (this kind of works, its not perfect, but it provides the helmet clearance), I've also angled the chair in towards the steering wheel a bit as otherwise your driving offset by 2 inches.

Its probably hard to make out what i am on about here, but ill include a few pics. The thing is with the chair this low, its like a freaking rubix cube everytime i need to make or try and adjustment on the chair, it takes nearly 2 hours to pull the fucking thing out. It really is tough, and everything is a compromise..

These first 2 images are test aligning the shoulder belts and making sure they comply with 10 degrees off the horizontal. (check)

Test fitting belts for degrees of horizontal. Perfect!!

Seat fittage..

Thanks goes to Micheal, Cammo, Liam and a few other guys from the group.

That is one sexy seat....it must be uber-light weight; who is the manufacturer of the referenced seat??

I feel your pain on the seat issues; albeit my work was done on my current e46 M3 track dedicated car. I had to retain the slides for multiple drivers for my current participation on Lucky Dog Racing Amateur Series.

Ultimately, I removed all the spot welds for the seat brackets and built custom brackets lowering the seats just over 2", moved inboard nearly an inch. As a result, seat removal nearly rivals your own. I used 4" box steel and cut it to follow the contour of the floor, used bushings so that fasteners could pass thru the floor as not to pull thru sheet metal and make access to one series of fasteners for my bimmerworld mounts. My custom bracket is welded down.

In addition, I used a ball peen hammer and massaged the trans tunnel for my slides to move forward as it begins to swell into the foot well.

"Fittage" did you make that up?!? I feel your pain though, sorta. Even though I've only been doing maintenance on a stock Z4M, I've already had to invent 3 "BMW special tools", and one of my clever swap-this-for-that ideas cost me 2 hours hovered over the intake manifold at #5 cylinder -- you know, the one that's basically 4 feet from any outer edge of the car!

Over 15 lbs savings at a location in the car that is relatively high....adding (or subtracting!) from the center of gravity equation.
