Ive seen this issue on other cars.
I think it's usually related to replacing one piece rotors with 2pce

...not the case with ours

On my E46 M3, I had Stoptech on 4 corners and I had to trim the rear backing plates to fit the rear Stoptech. But the handbrake still work if you don't trim too much material.

How close does the stock wheel sit in comparison with the oem caliper?

Why don't you download the profile templates from the StopTech website and actually check them against your wheels.

That is why StopTech put them there. So you can make sure 100% before you buy them.

Asking people on here about clearance is really not the best way to do things.

because those templates are not accurate. i tried them before. taking a measurment from the hub to the edge of the caliper is a fairly easy if you ask me

Well I would disagree as they worked out to be perfectly accurate for me

Are you saying they are all incorrect?

What did StopTech say when you brought this to their attention?

If you haven't e-mailed them your findings I am sure they would appreciate some feedback so they can correct any errors for other customers.

dub.... to help with your question.... i can 98% guarantee this will fit behind your ET35 8.5" rim... why?? i have the CSL AP caliper which is significantly larger than the stoptech/alcon/ z4m AP caliper, when i say larger i mean thicker..... they wouldn't fit behind my stocks, couldn't even get the wheel on, let alone drive.... stock CSL wouldn't fit, now running et34 up front and a 8.5" rim.... i have around 8mm of space between caliper and spoke, AP ask for a minimum of 3mm, so you've got plenty of room for a little discrepancy. hope this helps a little.

get the template, although it may not be 100% accurate you'll see that you'll have PLENTY of room :-)

If they don't fit in the rear and you have to trim, this is the part of the backing plates you want to remove:

(the right one is the rear)

Should just trim whatever's needed to fit the calipers to the backets and as long as the rotors clear the edges of the shield. Leave the rest of the dust shield untouched; as it's there for a reason. Unless of course you go in there frequently and spray stuff down like a good detailer does

+1 thats what i did anyway??? left as much intact as possible and used heat to bend them rather than cut where possible.
