Convertible issue.
Hey guys, I recently bought a 2.5 2004 Z4. Recently I thought the convertible motor crapped out on me. I was able to pull the the motor and pump together out of the well it normally sits and pull it to the trunk. I originally thought that the motor was wet and that is hwy it crapped out. I was surprised to find it relatively clean and dry. All in all in good shape. We plugged it into a external power source and saw and heard it run fine. But we still could not get the top to drop. We then ran some electric cable from the motor to the main electric cable that it gets it juice from the battery. It did not run when connected. So now I am confused as what the problem could be? Any one have any idea what I should do?

The one I’m thinking is a pull tab on the top of the inside of the trunk when pulled disables the motor so you can lower/raise the top manually. That’s the one if you haven’t double checked to check that one to see if it’s engaged. It’s #7 in the pic
