I was very disappointed when I learned that it wasn't George that played the solo....

Always thought While My Guitar Gently Weeps was one of George Harrison's best songs. Love Eric Clapton's guitar in this song and it seems like I remember from a young age that it was him playing. Great idea because Clapton plays so awesome and it really stands out in the song. And although George was a very good guitar player he could never sound like that IMO.
The bass stuff is very interesting as well and I didn't realize so much thought and effort went in to the bass sound in that song. Will have to listen to it more closely so I can appreciate all that was done. The "tic-tac" bass sound that is talked about sounds similar to the bass sound in some Johnny Cash songs. |

Yep, KEXP is as good as it gets. Like I said before, some of the live performances they set up are better sounding than the original studio recordings for some of these bands. Fantastic.

They were one of my faves in those days. I was in Tokyo when I discovered them. I used to go to these massively huge record stores (multi-storied) there and I could literally spend hours at a time looking through enormous collections of new and used CDs and even vinyl. I miss those days. I would always find hidden gems and could buy the used CDs for cheap. I still own every single one of them to this day, albeit they're collecting proverbial dust since I don't listen to CDs anymore. I feel old.

Good stuff. I don't know if I have ever run across a KEXP production that I didn't like. They do good work.[/QUOTE]
Couldn't agree more. They have always showcased musicians excellent at their craft. |
