Exclamation 2006 3.0si manual won’t start

I’ve had my car for a year and it’s at 99k miles. The car has run great and been maintenance free. For the last month or so I occasionally had a delay in the ignition sequence. When I turned the key there would be a second or 2 delay, with a little bit of a “whir” noise before turning over. Today, all I get is that “whir”. Lights and radio come on, but no crank.

It’s almost a daily driver and I don’t think it’s the battery, as it’s been on a trickle charger just to be sure. My educated guess is the starter, but maybe the ignition switch. Any thoughts out there?

Thanks.

Check clutch pedal height, might be too high. Just turn the stop on the floor down some.

Are you saying the clutch pedal isn’t down far enough to engage the starter?

Correct, it's a safety switch. Just turn the black knob down some and see what happens. I use to keep mine right below the switch kicking in for faster shifts. But this is what happens sometimes. Takes 10secs to check.

You should be able to hear the clutch switch 'click'. I'm deaf and even I can hear it!

I never could hear the one on the roadster but I do work around loud equipment.

Glad we could help! They are pretty good cars that just have some quirks.
