I dont think it has that much to do with looks, more reliability.

All Toyotas are pretty much ass ugly, especially the Camry and Corolla, the 2 biggest selling cars ever. They are the most hideous things Ive ever laid my eyes on, unfortunately I have to see one every other car, because they dont break and people love them and keeping buying them.

Prius? Fugly
Accord? Fugly
Altima? Fugly
Maxima? Fugly

These cars continue to sell and sell.

To conclude, I guess, if you wanna sell cars, make them fugly.
