___### Side Skirt Extension Poll ###___

We are trying to gauge the interest of designing a side skirt extension for our beloved Z4. To keep the design simple and have a OEM+ look, there're two versions

1. a simple quality piece that's flat and direct bolt on

or

2. with a little kick up at the rear. Similar to the M2 BMW Motorsport accessory piece.

It has yet to be determine whether it'll be CF or FRP, which will need to be painted or semi-glossy black.

Put your votes in and we'll get this underway for the summer months.

We'll close this poll on April 6th!

Not sure CF would be worth the cost, given weight would be similar and the part will be painted in most applications?

OP
Any close ups of the upturn design?
Everyone has seen the flat style

CF would be my choice. They would get kind of lost if body coloured I think

Most of what I've seen regarding a flat piece are not painted, granted they're CF and most like CF quality/look.

As regarding to weight, everyone is has a different tolerance/preference when installing parts on their car. Some will pay $1000 to save 5 lbs and some will not even consider saving 5 lbs on these cars are even worth paying anything for.

As for the material for the piece, a FRP piece will inevitably need to be painted, so that will be extra cost to get them painted professionally.

CF will give you options, leave in exposed or painting it.

That's why we have this poll to see what most people want. Thanks for voting!

We don't have any close up on the upturn design, it's just an illustration on an idea. We'll need to fine tune it once we have a consensus.

A flat piece design will have different shape at the ends compared to what's existing out there. The thickness will be increased slightly to give it a more 3D look versus a cut flat sheet look.

I like the upturn skirt idea.

2 things though: Carbon must be an option. Render/option for those with factory aero sides.

I also was part of the other skirt GB. I got em' and will install them. I wasn't blown away by the quality; so I would consider a better option.

side note: the car is back from paint and the spoiler is now on. Looks so good

I would love to see this in cf to match my spoiler. Then all I need is a chin spoiler to complete the look.

How would this look different that the agtstyling.com side skirt (also available in cf)?

I would imagine it's much better quality than the AGT lol. As an owner of the AGT skirts from the group buy, they're okay but definitely wouldn't buy again at the price they ask.

On top of having noticeable dings and dents from handling (and not from transit as the packaging was in perfect shape) there were scratches and flaws in the carbon weave. Additionally they seem to be all over the map with the length, mine were slightly shorter than I would have liked.

You should do a render based on the factory side skirt too. That appears to be an aero side skirt in the top render.

I think there are more owners with the factory skirt than the aero skirt.

Here is the very rough rendering with the OE side skirt. Let us know what you think.

Since I have the AGT skirts I likely won't be buying these side skirts, however I am interested in those pieces for the sides of the rear bumper that are on the second rendering - should they be produced and available on their own.

My vote (flat in CF) would be for those pieces, as it would best match my current setup.

I voted for the kick up rear in carbon fiber BUT a question comes to mind; I have the OEM side skirts for now. Eventually I plan on swapping them for the Aero side skirts. Will this kick up skirt fit OEM and the Aero skirts as well?

The goal is to design one version that will fit both type of side skirt. Cost might be too high to produce two versions.

Will having holes pre-drilled to the factory location preferred (fixed position) or leave it without holes so it came be mounted inboard/outboard of your choosing?

Maybe provide slotted holes so can be tailored to each persons preference
