Looking for Advice - Headliner repair/replace?

I recently acquired a 2006 BMW Z4 3.0si.

The Headliner (inside of the soft top) is in need of repair or replacement...
There is a cross seam with a fastening strip that has a couple of tabs spit and as such, the headliner is sagging in that area...

I was hoping to remove the headliner and repair that support strip.

I have seen several videos on removing the entire soft top as a complete unit, but cannot find any instructions on how to remove the headliner.

Can this be done without removing the entire assembly?
if so how?

There's a DIY out there on how to repair the headliner. I just did this to my 03 3.0i, took less than 30 minutes. Goes something like this...
- Remove top down about halfway
- Unclip front latch cover
- Remove 4 screws from the very front of the headliner, and one from the center latch area
- Remove 2 screws from the sides
- This will allow you to drape the front of the headliner over the seats, exposing the plastic trim that holds the middle of the headliner to the top of the vert
- You'll see the problem. The plastic piece that goes across the car, and attaches the headliner to the roof, corrodes over time and results in a sagging headliner. It's held in place to a metal beam that goes across the car. All you have to do is drill new holes in the plastic piece, which can be attached anywhere across the metal beam. Easy job.
- Reinstall the front of the headline by going backwars with these steps.

- There are much better DIY guides out there with pictues, just google it. This is based off my memory, but find a DIY with pics and it will be a 20 minute job.
