SmartTop harness routing issue

The SmartTop STLFBW3 installation instructions recommend positioning the SmartTop harness assembly as shown in the attached picture. I tried that on my 2011, but there seem to be A LOT more wires that are already crammed into that space then what they show in the picture.

Specifically, there is a bundle of black cables that are cable-tied together right at the point where they recommend the new harness exit the Styrofoam controller bay. The harness will lay across these cables, but it prevents it from laying as flat as they show in the picture.

I'm still able to get the trim & carpeting pieces back on, but the edge of the carpet piece sticks up a bit, and I'm a little worried about long-term stress on the harness in that position.

Did anyone else run into a similar issue? I'm wondering if for some reason I have more cables in my controller bay then they did in their sample car for some reason?

Ask the mods to move your threads, to the e89 forums.

Yes, sorry, for some reason I thought there was a DIY forum underneath the E89 forums & that this was it.

I see what you mean, easy mistake to make. Good luck with your SmartTop install!

Don't seem to have any E89-related issues on this end. Would you happen to have a picture to illustrate what you are referring to?
