If I had the means, it would be ridiculous, but I'd totally add a twin to my Roadster.

But I honestly don't think I'd have time to maintain the upkeep on another one. This one deserves the best!

Crazy it's about to change hands again! Miss this car, although the ZCP M3 helps a little. Robert was a great buyer to deal with, standup guy. Flew up from Texas to MN to pick her up and drive her home.

Exact reason I sold it for... no time to drive a coupe with no back seat. This car should only keep appreciating.

When Al (abashoe) sold me the car I was in a bidding war to get it, and fought hard to win... Within 24 hours of me posting it for sale a couple summers later I had 3 full ask offers (and selected Robert based on him being willing to fly up and buy in person).. speaks to the rarity and desirable combo on top of the excellent choice of mods by Al.

A forum member has been emailing me for a few weeks now. We finally agreed on sale price and he was setting up arrangements to have the car shipped. Did not hear back for a few days and just found out now he is not buying the car.

Lesson learned on my part, until money is in hand the car is still for sale.

To the individuals I told the car was off the market, I apologize. Car is for sale.

I'll buy it back for what I sold it for, plus a discount? haha

How does the Z4MC compare to the 1M you had? I was strongly considering the 1M as the replacement to the Z4MC but couldnt find once for sale at a reasonable price.

Wish I could sell it to ya! Had second sale fall through yesterday. Apparently banks think these cars are worth about as much as a used corolla. Felt bad for the guy, he's TX local and was over the moon excited to buy the car.

1m and mcoupe are drastically different beasts. The Mcoupe is the definition of linear power and feedback. The 1m feels way over boosted and twitchy in comparison. Not to say the 1m isn't a complete riot to drive. It's just far more dog yanking at the end of the leash kind of car.

The banks and credit unions have little notion or idea what this car is actually worth. I'm actually watching this closely as the price here and on various auction sites seem to suggest another uptick in pricing coming/already here.

Best of luck with the sale, car looks clean and I hope you sell it for the $36K and change listed.

Well I just couldn't do it. I tried to sell but wasn't going to simply give the car away at a loss either. Several people made compelling offers, several people made ridiculous offers and two people backed out after a deal was made but before they saw the car.

In the end I couldn't part ways and decided I need to keep and drive her on the beautiful days. For now she's away for the winter (But easily pulled out for that occasional gorgeous winter day)

I'm not saying she's not for sale, but I'm not saying she is either ;-)

Safe and sound for the winter:

Just keep it!

At the start of 2009, when my first one was a year and a half old, I lost my job. It had less than 20k miles on it and I was trying to sell it for $29k. A few tire kickers but no serious buyers - that recession was a ball buster. I wound up tapping my savings and paying it off and keeping it for a total of 8 years. After I sold it in 2015 I IMMEDIATELY regretted it. Took me till late 2018 but I made the decision that I had to have another. I'll never part with #2 - I'm keeping it for the duration. Clean, low-mileage examples are only going up in value. Hang on tight!

I've been more active the past few months on the Porsche forums. There's a very interesting thread that a few members here contributed.

Long story short, I personally think we have some amazing cars in the Z4M, whether it's a Coupe or Roadster. They offer Porsche-esque fun at half the price. You just cannot beat that IMO.

I'm glad you are keeping it. Such a perfect example. I just finished going through some things on my e36 so beginning of next year will be the Z4M's turn. I absolutely cannot wait.

Well I knew this would happen. Right after I put her away for the winter I get a text from a guy out of CA. Told him the car was put away for the winter but he had to have it. He picked her up on new years day and drove straight back to LA. Said he had a blast on the drive back and is planning on running her up and down SR 1. I'm glad she's going to a good home and will continue to be used in the manner BMW intended. Hopefully he will become a member here post up from time to time.

Congrats on the sale....keep us posted regarding seller's remorse like KevinC and if you'll get another.

I miss this car... likely will sell my 05 M3, but likely to get a newer M after all. I'm sure one day I will be back in a AW/IR Z4M. This one was special.

I keep looking at newer M's or different brands, but nothing matches a Z4M unless it's far more expensive. What cars are you considering?

Not a popular opinion, but while I love the way the E46 M3 looks, I couldn't justify it over a Z4M as a weekend car.

^ you are not alone here, but you are also on a Z forum
But try a convertible M3 vs. Z4MR, even bigger difference for a weekend car

I have a 2 y/o and we plan on having another (likely after this virus craziness), hence why I sold the Z4M, I wasn’t driving it, ever! Otherwise I would’ve kept it.

The ZCP M3 is a nice substitute, I actually love the way it drives (a little more comfy than the Z4M), but the look of the Z4M is truly special.

Honestly, while an F80/82 isn’t as engaging, I am ready to be in something with a little more power, more modern and more convenient for kids. I have little time for true “joy drives” it’s mostly driving to/from work and occasionally grocery or a car meet run. If kids weren’t a part of the equation right now, I would go The Porsche GT3 or GT4 route. Just ready for something different.

Glad you kept it.... I sold my Z4MC (the twin of your car minus some mods) to a guy in CA....Big mistake!!!!
I keep checking with him every year if he'll sell it back to me.... He keeps saying he is keeping it forever and to stop texting him!!!.... which reminds me...
