Wife Says Color Changing...
My Z4C need both the rear and front bumpers painted. While my wife was picking up one of the cars from the tint shop she found out the do the "liquid" wrap, aka plasti dip. They make it look just like glossy paint and she suggested a color change instead of painting the bumpers. Cost is only $900 so I may even change regularly.
Told her to pick a color and she picked the blue-green-purple color changing scheme. While cool on certain cars I'm not sure it would look right on a Z4. Any thoughts? I'm afraid if we do that color I'll have to throw some neons underneath and drive it like I'm in the early 2000s, complete with a fart can. Current color is blue. |

I looked at both but I thought that the premium for vinyl wrap was worth it given smoother texture and ease of removal. I used plastidip before and always found it never came off as a ‘single’ sheet, and getting into nooks and cranny was a pita.

$900 for plasti dip for front and rear bumpers seems like a ripoff. You can get both bumpers wrapped for just $100-200 each. I don't like plasti dip as it's a PITA to remove. I suggest vinyl wrap. I have had a colour shift wrap on my car not too long ago. It's purple, green, and blue.

Wrapped my Z4M in a dark cherry red from 3M.
Would NOT recommend 3M wrap. Hindsight is 20/20, lots of professional installers have problems with 3M wrap. From stretch marks, to glue lines, to just being a generally difficult film to work with. I'll be wrapping mine next in Avery, probably some yellow color. |
