Z4 design story
I'm sure someone has posted this before but I had never seen it so I thought I would put it up.

Thanks grannyknot!
The guy is really proud of his work and I totally understand why (of course since I own Z4 and love it so much ). But it makes me curious if designers of current BMW models would be able to say the same 10 - 20 years later? |

Not the designers that were responsible for the beaver teeth grills, they're probably removing that from their resume.

Beaver teeth? The new grills look like more like twin coffins than twin kidneys. Just hope it is not the death knell of BMW design! Long live (OO=00=OO) !!

I remembered how it got so many negative reviews due to the "flamed" surfaces. How Chris Bangle bungled the design from the classic look of the Z3. IIRC there was a Top Gear video where Richard Hammond commented the Z4 coupe looks like an expression of a penis.
New designs are polarising in the beginning. I feel time as we see it today is kind to the e85/6. |

PS: I really hope they won't destroy the look of the next gen M2. That's practically the only modern BMW car I still like. |

I think the later E89 was a great looking car too although it was not as performance focused as the E85/86. While the new G29 seems to be a great performance car, I don't think that it will be remembered for its looks.

Then in January my Z4MC got hit to the tune of $9800 in damage. I decided immediately to order an M2 Comp as production was due to wind up in June. Allocations were already scarce. So I ordered in early February as the Z4MC was being repaired. Finally arrived on April 30th. I gotta tell you - the M2c is just an incredible car, something I never thought BMW would produce ever again. I'm approaching 10k miles already because I just love driving it so much. And on top of all its mechanical goodness, it's just drop-dead gorgeous. The new G-series M240i is hideous to my eye and I'm not optimistic about the next M2. Bigger, heavier, faster, uglier, blah blah blah. And Frank Stevenson, the designer of the original X5, is NOT a fan of the new 2-series design...
