Nice location. I'm going to check it out further, plans have always been to move to that neck of the woods or somewhere in general proximity in the next several years.

There is absolutely nothing better than getting up really early, having the roads essentially to yourself, and enjoying the connection and experience with driving these cars provide.

Thanks! I'll probably be more active again like I wants was on the forum. I'll spare you the details, but the last 5+ years of my life have just been crazy beyond belief. There hasn't been time. That's finally settled. Phew!

I think that's what I'll go with myself when I get the car back together. It's being taken off the road until I can bulletproof the engine.

Great looking car, welcome back.

Great looking car, welcome back.
Strömung is my favorite for low-drone, weight reduction, and good sound when you get on the throttle especially at high revs. Sounds good even w/o an x-pipe or CA unfriendly mods.

Right there with Eisenmann but lighter. I've listed the cans I've had on the car below. These are my ranking from best to least desirable if you're drone adverse and have neighbors and/or attentive cops. YYMD if you prefer louder and aren't bothered by some drone.
Strömung - great workmanship, lighter than stock, very low drone (maybe a hint at 2.2K, not where we really live), stealth like at low input/revs, opens up nicely when you get on it.

Eisenmann sport - best paired with an X-pipe. Not track friendly. Too heavy + large tips melt surrounding plastic.

KKS TI - super light, looks great, too mild of sound w/o headers and X-pipe. Unobtainable though.

Remus sport - stock sound w/o the hanging balls look.

Rpi - banshee from hell, exotic, super light, sounds great, pretty much straight pipes with high drone and highest volume ever measured for an axle-back (@exhaust fest II).

Rogue - boomy and drone. Can't recommend.

IMO it's so much fun to work on these cars. I even not sure what is more fun for me - to service / repair / improve her or to drive her

PS: that's a really great car you've got! Congrats!

Oh I don't mind turning a wrench or two. There's a zen-like state that I find when working on cars.

The "sad" It's more commentary on service quality in general. Every now and then it would be nice to be able to rely on others in time constrained situations. Yet I find that often is a false bargain.

I do my own plumbing, appliance repair, etc, for the same reason, generally speaking I do better work. Appliance repair is more daunting than these cars. I know the car well, something I can't say about my new dryer, which I had to totally disassemble to convert to LP. Fortunately it's easy to take video to document. Which is handy for putting things back together.

Re: car, thanks! I'm really happy with the car, and that no LP conversion is required.

That is awesome feedback, thank you! I don't necessarily mind a loud exhaust, my E92 is fully catless with Eisenmann Race, but it does have factory resonators still. I don't want to touch the main cats (don't want to have to get a tune) plus mine is a Roadster, so I wouldn't want to smell to get overwhelming.

Eventually, I'd like to get a perfect balance between intake noise and exhaust noise. Already did secondary cat deletes on this car, but the Stromungs might just make it perfect.

Unfortunately, the Z has moved at the back of my priority list, such is life. But she'll be back eventually! I sure do miss driving that car.

Glad to have you back! Looks like a GREAT car. Makes me think I should take a similar route but I just can't get myself to sell mine. I always wanted AW but wasn't patient when looking to buy and got a black one.

I grew up in San Diego and our family would drive to the Sierra Nevada mountains....and take Tioga Pass....and go to June Lake.

Totally unrelated to cars, but Zen-like. Last year I re-did the bathroom sink faucet. Bought a new retro design from a small manufacturer in Cali. Not sure what they were thinking when designing the combiner assembly, but it was impossible to install the unit without it leaking. Had to make the below part out of 1/2" copper pipe. Worked perfectly on the first shot.
