I'm BACK!!!
I bought my first Z4M, Sapphire Black Metallic, back in 2011. Last fall, I sold it, as part of a plan to buy a track-spec'd Z4M instead.
My plans sounded good on paper. Then, as it often does, life took some strange twists and turns. I realized I wasn't going to be able to spend my weekends at the track. And then I started missing "my" car like crazy, not only because it was a great car, but because what I'd had in my garage was a care I could take to the track on occasion, and also really enjoy on the great back roads near me. Last Monday afternoon I decided I was going to start the search for another Z4M. I figured I'd spend 6 months to a year on a quest for car that had been taken care of as well as mine. Then, later than night, I checked my email, and discover a note from a certain guy who lives down the road from me, who runs track days, and asking about "best places to sell his Z4M". No. F'ing. Way. A Z4M was searching for me! And not just any Z4M, an Alpine White, no nav, extended leather, aero side skirt equipped just about perfect car. 50K miles (same as the one I'd sold), stored in climate controlled garage, still with the original owner. I emailed back, and said, yeah, I might be able to help him with that. I was over there the next day...I think you can guess the rest. And the pictures tell the story of the car on their own. Driving it was like seeing your dog after you've been away for long time. There's wagging, smiles, a deep connection, and happiness when you see and hang out with your buddy. It's crazy a car can elicit such an emotional connection and response. I swear this car is part Blue Heeler...very smart, quite a handful, totally attuned to you, and providing constant feedback. Maintenance will include all fluids, probably not needed, but I like to start fresh. Mods will include Stromung cans, X-Pipe, Euro Headers to start with. Next up will be bushings and possibly a suspension upgrade/refresh. The PO is a smooth driver, and the suspension feels crazy new for 50k miles. Climate control no doubt helps with that. Right now I'm just enjoying the ear to ear smiles that seem to be standard equipment. Nothing else I've owned from BMW or Porsche does that. There are faster cars in a straight line or around corners, but I've yet to find one that is more fun. Last edited by Finnegan; 07-27-2019 at 08:19 PM.. |

Congrats.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

CongratZ Ron!!!
Looks like a great car. Of course I'm kinda partial to great white sharks The M3 has come and gone and mine is still in the garage.

Finnegan, I've been off the forum for awhile myself. Popped in to see how everyone is doing. So glad you found another Z4M. I had my bumpers resprayed and the guy thought he did me a favor by polishing my car but he put haze marks all over the car, so I spent all day polishing with fine polish and sealing it. It's nice to be so intimate with the Z4M and know I've had my hands on every inch of her . ;-)

It's sad to say but I find I have to do most of the work myself. And I've really gotten to know this car and that makes it easier over time |

Welcome back Finnegan!
SO great that all aligned and you found such a great Z4MC in your back yard....it was meant to be; it's a beautiful ride; totally aligning with your comment about eliciting such emotion....we don't drive miles....we drive smiles....I retired 2 yrs ago and take the Beloved Red Roadster out about once every 1.5 weeks....always an early drive at about 530 am when the sun is just starting to come up and I can drive without headlights on....top down, cruising my lovely little town that we moved to in retirement www.gigharbor.com

Thanks! I'll probably be more active again like I wants was on the forum. I'll spare you the details, but the last 5+ years of my life have just been crazy beyond belief. There hasn't been time. That's finally settled. Phew!
