Fault code 2F71 - Ebox fan

I went to update my ECU for alpha-N programming this weekend and discovered the 2F71 "E-box fan, input signal" code recorded prior to flashing. This appears to be for the blower unit that cools the sealed ECU box in the engine bay. The code comes back almost immediately after clearing.

I removed the blower unit from the driver footwell to test outside of the car, and it seems to work fine hooked up to 9V battery power (all I had in a pinch) - fine in the sense that it is not obviously seized or burnt out. I'm wondering if anyone knows the fuse location for this fan. A little bit of research indicated that fuse #33 was the fuse, but the fuse was not blown upon inspection.

Anyone have any experience with this problem? I found it interesting that there was no notification beyond a soft code for a theoretically very important cooling component. Maybe our ECU's are capable of running within temperature parameters without the fan?

bump having same code, fan seems really easy to replace but could I be missing anything else (before I spend $100 on replacement part)?

Mine was a dead fan. I tried a couple other things first (but honestly can't remember what they were anymore)

Thanks, I ended up just replacing mine tonight. Will monitor codes next few days.
