aux\bluetooth adapter for stock radio?

Hi, new to this part of the forums, I just purchased an 06 Z4 roadster 3.0i for my daughters 16bday (her 1st car). Car has no aux port, after reading the forums for a while I came across this aux port for the ash tray but I cant find anyone that sells it anymore. by chance does anyone know where I can find one

Hi! I had the same issue when I got my car, I ended up buying a fm radio adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter and you just go to the radio station that the adapter goes with and it plays whatever you want from your phone...however you should make sure to unplug it when the car is off or get one that has a power button or it might run the battery down. Bought mine at Walmart!

Your daughter is very lucky and welcome to this corner of the forums!

There are many threads on this topic. The option I went with was installing the GROM USB-2 unit w/ BT adapter (may require a different setup/option for your specific car). The GROM retains stereo and steering wheel controls. It was a hassle to install but well worth it in my opinion.

If you simply want Aux, you don't necessarily need the ashtray setup. Check out P/N 84109237655 (AUX Socket) and 51459128397 (cover). But before you go buying these, triple check if you already have one installed. You'd be surprised how well hidden it is.

i got an AUX IN "kit" from my local dealer in Australia no hassles. Lots of the specialist US shops should have them. easy to install. where you put the socket is up to you. the instructions suggested in the glovebox, but i fitted mine in the lower switch panel. works perfectly
