Carbon Fiber Doors- Group Effort Needed
Ok so here it is.
We have some one on this forum who can build us the molds for the doors and turn them into Carbon Fiber. In the Classifieds Section there are a pair of doors for a Z4M that are on sale for $500.00,thats for both, a price unheard of but never the less its there. This is our golden opportunity to begin something unique here. I have looked around and found that Seibon doesn't even have our doors in CF form. Even if so their prices are outrageous. From what Im gathering 'Twisted six' can make us these CF doors with no trouble. Heres what we came up with: we need to acquire those doors first, they are out in long island. Im the closest one there most of the time. we need to raise 750.00 from 15 investors. That comes out to 50 bucks per person. Basically the average cost of a full tank of gas. Each investor will get twice his money back, I believe twisted six' will knock off 100 dollars for each persons door price. I believe each door will be around 2k and shipping will be easy due to the light weight nature of the finished product. the 50 bucks per person equates up to 750. the doors cost 500 and its around 250 in freight cost plus packaging to get them from New York to California. Although it may even be less once I've carved out a set and jigged to know all the materials consumed etc. But NOT more. The goal is for Full CF build with internal impact bars and bolt-on design. Factory handles,inner door panel,glass and internals will swap over. Very stiff and sturdy yet lightweight. By the way...I'm basically discounting double the amount each person pony's up. you can count me in for doing just driving. :-) considering how much gas I will be spending for this venture I think it's more than enough

So until I see 50 his name won't be added. Once we reach 15 participants we lock that in. |

Weight loss will be on or near 2/3's of the steel shells. They will have crash bars equal too or greater than OEM and can be painted or clear-coated to your preferences. |

I say at about 10 locked in participants ,we can start the classifieds Group buy thread and the remaining 5 needed will easily be found after 10 accountable interests are collected.

That's a good question as I have many irons in the fire moving forward including these.
A good guess would be late Winter or January. It will require no less than 6 molds altogether and 2 assembly jigs. Hardware sets developed etc. That should give folks some time to gather funds.Thats about $100 a week saved back to be ready for purchase in Jan. |
