I got married in October 1991. On February 11, 1992, I was injured on the job. Minor injury but I couldn't work. I called a good friend and suggested a road trip, he agreed and we left, not even thinking that this would have been my first valentines day with my new wife. Anyway, my friend and I went for dinner on the 14th and he was extremely uncomfortable as there were all loving couples sitting around us. He made a point of telling our waitress that we were both married to women. I was laughing the whole time!

I count myself lucky to be married to a woman who agrees that Valentine's Day should be boycotted. Feb 14th has no relevance to our relationship other than it is the day before my mom's birthday. The whole notion of a special, designated day to treat your s.o. to something is just the public being manipulated by greeting card companies, florists and restaurants.
My wife knows that she's special every day. |

Being married for over 25 years V-day is routine around here. She gets dark chocolate truffles One pound box from SEE's ( her fav) a dinner out and a trip to Victory Secrets. We always end up in a debate as to who the last one is for (her or me). My arguement is we both score.
So far as a special V-day, in my mind would have to be 1979. Most of you know I served on submarines. That ment that once I shipped out, we did not surface for the next 12-14 weeks. So, you try to celebrate special days before deployment. I had given her a card and some cash. Robyn sent me to sea with several packages with dates on them indicating when they were to be opened. Inside the box marked V-day were several paper wrapped gifts and an envlope marked with a corrsponding number as the package. This sparked my interest. Upon opening #1 package,I found a garder belt, I darn near broke a finger getting the #1 card open. Sure enough there was a poloroid of her wearing the same. Package #2 contained panties and a pic of the same. #3 was stockings and a pic of the same. I darn near scrapped the box looking for package #4, alas only a promissary note to model all articals upon my return. The bugger of it all , I still had 9 weeks to go. I know, I know TMI. My excuse, don't ask questions you don't want answers to. BTW , Robyn has been shopping the past few days.

Ok, here's mine. I was dating this girl (good start) for several months. We talked every day that we weren't together. I knew every thing she was going to say before she said it. I couldn't stop thinking of her every day.
On Valentine's day, I had to drop my buddy's girlfriend at the bus and was annoyed that I was losing time with my girlfriend. As I said goodbye to Pam, the roomie's girlfriend, she gave me an envelope. Suffice to say, it was along the lines of the one that Robyn gave Bob. Here i am 70 miles from my lady and I've got pictures that leave nothing to the imagination. Got to the parking lot and my pickup had been dented in on one door. Now i'm pissed and horny. Start my 70 mile drive in a foul mood and the wind is blowing and the rain is coming down sideways. Not a good day to drive. As I came back through town, i heard my mom calling me on the ham radio. Sheesh. Dad's in Utah and the back fence and an apple tree have blown down. I stopped and fixed the fence and pulled the tree back into the yard. Another hour wasted. I cleaned up and resumed my trip. Got to my girlfriend's house and was told that she'd gone to the restaurant and I should meet her there. She wasn't there as I was about 1.5 hours late at this point. I'd forgotten to call from mom's house, so I knew i was in trouble. I went back to her place and she wasn't there, so I went home after leaving a message at her place. Got home and there she was relaxing in the hot tub with a bottle of wine and my room mate. Well, she was in a skimpy bikini, half sloshed and in a seemingly good mood so I joined her and told my roomie to get lost. We sat there as she drank more wine, then when I went to get closer to her, she told me that she'd realized that I just didn't care enough for her and it was over. She got out of the tub, tottered back to my apartment and spent the night in my roomie's room. Apparently she was pissed that i'd stopped to fix my mom's fence and i'd taken too long to get from Salinas to San Jose. I hadn't realized what a flake she was until then.

Patti left me lots of explicit polaroids and notes. If the internet had been around, she would have been very embarrassed, especially when I was photographer at a wedding she was a bridesmaid at!
