Apologies, I didn't realize that photo would incite so many negative feelings/emotions that I obviously had no intention of stirring up. Would you all prefer that I remove it?

you did nothing wrong, and it's a great shot! you guys needed petro and so documented the event. pictures are designed to evoke emotion. especially when the picture is of art. even more so when that art is the z. again... there is nothing wrong with any of your pics! keep 'em coming!

We took the picture simply because I'm American, I own my car, and I'm proud of being American. More proud than most you could say, because I've put my life in danger for the last 9 ½ years flying jets for the Navy and will soon be on the ground in Afghanistan running convoys and construction efforts. I've had to pick up and move seven times in the last five years (eight in the last nine), and may go a year and a half at a time without seeing my family. It bothers me that patriotism automatically incites an argument about whether a person is moral and devoid of ignorance/racism. Additionally, labeling one area of the country as “racist” is essentially a stereotype of people in and of itself... something along the lines of pot – kettle – black.
If I remember correctly the shop was actually owned by non-whites, and is in Arizona (not the South). My memory of a single gas station visit on a road trip is pretty vague, but it stood out because of that sign. I was curious to see who worked there. It's just a picture of a cool car with a cool sign, nothing else insinuated. I can pull the address off my credit card statement and PM it to whoever would like it for their next trip across I-40, just to prove the point that American-owned is not synonymous with white-owned.

thanks Pokey for your services!
What did I say to incite such a response? I simply asked what that insinuated? I'm American and damn proud of it, and no one is going to tell me otherwise including anyone who thinks they are more American than I... edit: PM me if you want to continue this conversation, enough derailing of this thread

We drove the M to TN to see pokey's family and for his brother's wedding and then drove the 3.0i and M from TN to MS since pokey is being stationed there for the next ~2 years.
