getting a bit off topic, but I really like having 265s up front. The steering is a bit heavier (I like that), and the front grip is fantastic. I'd like to go wider out back though

I purchased VideoPad, since I regularly used the demo version. I stabilized the video, which helped, but it ended up zooming in and out at certain parts, ruining the effect of having the camera mounted this way. Basically its worthless. I'm gonna work with the hardware next

That sounds like a disappointing implementation. Properly written, it would either 1) define a fixed zoom level sufficient to eliminate the vibration, or 2) allow some vibration in the sections that are the worst rather than changing the zoom level dynamically.
But yeah, with that application, it sounds like it doesn't do what was intended |

I would hope that it would see that the car is an object that you can center on, and then crop it a bit to quell the movement.
Oh well.. I have high hopes for my special rubber thingies. I'll order them sometime next week. I don't expect to eliminate vibration, but just reduce it a bit. Its already fairly stable and watch-able

very off topic here but when you guys do auto x in america, what happens if you crash?? is it classed as racing and therefore uninsured..... sorry for the odd question but this video made me feel sick.... listen to the bone crunching moment when the wheels side swipe the curb!!! imo Terrible track layout!!

That video was hard to watch. What genius laid out that track?
I'm pretty sure most insurance companies here will ONLY cover you if the run is not being timed. You can buy HPDE insurance through BMWCCA though. |

Crazy vid. That was at auto club speedway in Fontana. I was there doing a track day and saw the aftermath of that crash when we were leaving the track. It was a pretty tight parking lot.

Like I said, I tried software to reduce the vibration, but it came out crappy because for some sections is zooms in and out, which destroys the perspective of having the car being static in the whole thing. Didn't look much steady-er than the normal version.
After the holidays I'm going to order special vibration reducing rubber grommets and spacers so that all the bolts that are holding it together are insulated at the contact points and holes. Also, I'm wondering if I painted everything bright green if there would be a way to edit the whole mount out of the video. Sort of like the clone stamp tool in photoshop. I'm a complete noob in anything but basic video editing though. Could be done in photoshop frame by frame though for a short clip

sneak preview. I've now added ball joints to the mount, allowing for more... creative angles. BUT, because the z4 body doesn't have many straight panels, its still a bit tricky to mount. Wish it wasn't so dark out...
Many more improvements are in the works.... video of this angle coming within 24 hours. Got a little drift going with it, on my snow setup.

Very short because its very dark, and this was the only interesting part = )
I'll be getting a Gopro Hero 2 in the near future, it works better in the evening I added some brightness in editing

Don't use suction cups for a bike rack, thats risky. If it falls off, the car behind you can have an accident.
