Replaced GPS antenna, gap went from 200mi to 2mi LOL

I just replaced my GPS antenna with a used OEM one (VDO).
Before it wouldn't see any satellites, but somehow still inferred my movements, with an offset of about 200 miles.

Now it sees 8 satellites, but the offset is still about 2 miles (making navigation unusable) and telling me that north is about 150 degrees off.

Do I have to reset things, with a battery disconnect or otherwise?

Does the nav take time (like hours or days) to settle and get to its senses?

UPDATE:

Yes, somehow the system has gotten to its senses, is now working correctly. No more offset.
So, when repairing your GPS, don't expect it to work 100% correctly immediately: it needs a few hours

Honestly not sure why you’d want to rely on a navi system based on the original X3 chassis. Just use your phone / google maps for directions

You are right, and I do. But, I psychologically wanted the original system to work.
It now does. It’s super lame to use, and mind me I have design in-car navigation experiences, the BMW system makes me laugh and cry. Lol

Did you replace the antenna in a Z4 Roadster, or a Coupe?
If a Coupe, I’d like to talk about how you removed the antenna.
I’ve located mine, but can’t figure out how to release it from the mounting bracket, or where to access the cable connection.
