I had right steering car in the country with right side driving for about 3 years. Shifting with the left hand was never an issue. The only inconvenience was passing, you need to be careful as you cannot see well ahead of the car in front of you.
Having this experience helped me on vacation in left side driving country, however I had some fun adjusting.

It's kinda a copout saying there's no difference, though. It's a right-handed world, so for right-handed ppl, things are much easier, try a usual pair of scissors using it w your left hand, big difference. How about wearing your watch on your right wrist w the winder facing to the right? Etc etc etc. So, wouldn't there similarly be a preferable setup in how our vehicles are set up?

...and similarly at the lights trying to make a left turn. So compromised and potentially dangerous, I wouldn't get a RHD in a LHD country no matter how good it is...

This is the best option, forget LHD or RHD.

I agree, but when the choice is Toyota vs Lada it is very tempting. I actually enjoyed it and even sold that car with profit after 3 years. It was Carina 1986 and I paid $800 for it in 1993. Sold in 1996 for $1800.

That's the thing though, nobody was forcing to get a Lada or Skoda or Yugo as the alternative lol.

Anyway, good on your profit, got to enjoy the car for free and then some.
