Got my seats in .....

Planted mounts
Tillet sliders
Tillet side mounts ( Taller TB3 )
Tillet carbon seats.

A huge ball ache to get right and get fitted in the correct position but two solid days of it saw me good. I have to say the planted bases are absolutely amazing. They literally allow a near OEM level of install , I was able to reuse the stock belt mount , plus the stock belt tensioner. Issues with them are access to the inner bolts is really difficult, plus they are tall... In my case this is perfect as the tillet carbon seats are extremely low profiled, im still to low even with the extra tall side mounts plus sliders. I'm now sitting IN the car , I feel cocooned , the seats really add to the special feel of the interior but the driving experience is transformed . Now go to get rid of the airbag light . Lastly these seats saved over 40kg from the car! insane! Whoever gets into an aftermarket seat install be prepared to modify most of the new and expensive hardware you just brought :-( , i had no idea of how involved this would to get right, installing is relatively easy but getting it all lined up and to your likening is whole different thing. ive spent days, installing an removing, drilling holes, re-installing, then repeating the whole process.

ok , ive finished this part of the upgrades to the car.

ive now turned the airbag light off which was really bugging me! i used an emulator neatly wrapped in oem style bmw covering with soldered connections to an OEM plug, so the wiring loom in the car is perfectly untouched. I then used 3m sticky pads to stick it atop of the seat mounts. its kinda cool because i can see all the electrics under the seats through the harness cut outs... im such a geek as i love stuff like this  So now the airbag light properly goes off with the ignition checks.

i did a good two hour drive this AM from 6 and i'm just so pleased with how its all come together. ive got the seat set to its highest which is still much lower than the stock seat will go but i can see perfectly and im very comfortable with the height, but with the slightly more BTCC style reclined position the b5 puts you in makes a difference to this car i simply could not imagine. comfort is hugely increased, two hours this morning was a breeze, the gear selector is literally at your hands and the pedal interaction is now the best its ever been as the front of the seat kicks up leaving a control i simply did not have with the stock units, its right up their with the very best driving positions ive experienced and of course the seats FEEL so special and have lifted a timeless BUT drab cabin to something pretty special. This thing on a backroad is just downright rude and not particularly safe with the power, ill get the car back to the weight bridge shortly.

Last thing is the seat pads which arrive when they arrive .... for now, im really enjoying tinkering again. Next up..... Rims then recover from bankruptcy and go again :

That's a very nice set-up. My buddy has those seats in his Cayman. I like them a lot. I wanted an OEM plus feel with OEM belts and in talking to more shops it sounds like Planted Bases with Specific Recaro Sliders more or less my option unless I want to do modifications and add-ons which add cost and time.
