Z4Girl is correct, anything other then amber for a front turn is not legal. Also removing side reflex is also illegal. The rear turn in North American can be red or orange but no other color. In europe all turns including rear must be orange.

I'd imagine removing the reflectors is illegal otherwise why would BMW go through the trouble of putting those orange and red relectors in the US/Canadian versions unless they had to.

+1 It is a U.S. Department of Transportation rule that the front has side reflectors that are amber. This is for when you are pulling out of a driveway at night time, a car driving down the street can see the front of your car pulling out. Therefore, this is not a BMW rule and BMW did not put those reflectors on there just because they felt like it. I'm sure if it's up to them, they'd leave the reflectors off because it costs them more money to have different bumpers to accomodate the reflectors.

Who said it was a BMW rule or that BMW put them there because they felt like it? I know I sure didnt. Also they dont need different bumpers. its the same fascia as the cars from europe without the reflectors. Its just a punch operation at the factory. Only thing BMW has to pay for is the extra part for the reflector. |
