Loaner cars...

So once again!
Brecht BMW (in Escondido) denies us a loaner car Ha ha!

Cars in the shop due to a savage attack involving a curb!
But anyway.

Since I'm underage (only 16)
My dad went to BMW to see if he could get a loaner car for himself (aka me)
blah blah blah. talky talky talky.

So he, (Tim Brecht) after a conversation with my father, says no!
basically in a nutshell.
He said that (un-quoted due to uncertainty of specific words) He knows what we do with his cars, and no chance in hell is he giving us a loaner car to do it with! ha ha.

Word to the wise.
Don't Speed around your neighbors.. Specially if one of them owns the BMW shop you bought your car from..

*Fail*

Loaner cars usually blow anyway. I used to get e90's but the dealer started getting cheap. First it was an A4 2.0T, then a Pontiac G6, then... a light blue PT Cruiser. Light. Blue. PT. Fucking. Cruiser

Needless to say, I called my bro and waited for him to pick me up. The 45 minutes was worth not riding around in the Elton John mobile

OT, but before I had the Range Rovers, and the 740, I had a 5 speed manual Touring edition PT for 5 years. Out of the hundred plus cars I've had in the last 30 years, that was one of the best all round daily drivers I've ever had. Practical, with vastly more carrying capacity inside than it looked outside (you would not believe some of the stuff I hauled aroundin there, like a stack of 14 full size replacement windows for the house with the hatch closed, 1200lbs of bagged crushed rock, all the lumber of my rear deck project, etc), economical, completely reliable (never had a single mechanical, elctrical, or body/trim failure in the 5 years I had it). Comfortable for long trips (like from Baltimore to Orlando and back, Baltimore to Portland, Maine and back, monthly trips 6 hours away to the middle of CT and back), fun to autocross (even got a season trophy in it in H stock). Sorry, but I love the funky mini-37 Ford styling. if it werent for the fact that I wanted a vehicle to haul a travel trailer and carry 4x8 sheets of plywood/sheetrock (which the PT was just barely too small to do: 2" too short diagonally across the hatch) I'd probably still have it.

And despite all that, it's still a shitty car to me. One of the biggest POS I've ever driven.

How so? Was it an automatic rental? The 5 speed manual version is almost 4 seconds quicker to 60 than the automatic. the Touring version has better suspension than the base level cars.

I've owned over a hundred cars. I've driven everything from Pintos to Porsches on teh track. And I find it better than most cars in it's price range. It's not a luxury car or a race car: it's a basic small, tall station wagon, the type of vehicle that people should have been driving instead of huge SUVS with only one person in them.

How is a reliable, comfotable, practical economy wagon the "biggest POS you've ever driven?" Are you used to luxury sport sedans that cost 5 times as much?

Good attitude about getting shafted as a customer. Kudos.

Your story actually raises my impressions about Brecht instead of lowering them.

Maybe because the PT Cruiser is now what, 10 years old? It was cool and unique when it first came out, but then it just got old and boring and now its the epitome of un-cool. I hate every single one of them.

+1, but the PT Loser was not cool when it came out. It's always been an ugly piece.

Ah, a new car snob. if it isn't new it's crap. I see. My E38 740iL is over 10 years old. Is it a boring, loser car that you hate, too?

Disagree. It was quite cool, and part of why it had a waiting list for a couple years. Were it really ugly, like the Aztek, it would have sold as poorly as the Aztek.

The fact is, it was unique, it was practical, economical, reliable, and worked great. Just because you don't like the looks of it, doesn't make it a POS or a bad car. The insulting attitude shows why BMW owners are known as such pricks.
