I missed the group buy but based on the majority of positive responses here, I went with Stromung.
My experience with Scott was very positive. He responded to my emails promptly and was pretty much dead-on with his estimates on the schedule. My observations are very similar to what most have observed: - No drone (this is subjective, of course), definitely a lot louder than stock and still louder than the Remus I have on my E46. I'm very happy with the new sound It definitely suits the character of the Z4M. - I kept the stock flange position (almost a 45 degree angle), unlike the vertical position others have used. I was able to position the tips such that there's just enough room to slide my fingers through the gap, just like with the stock mufflers. - I did notice the driver side tips protruding out slightly more than the other side. I could not fix this with any of the adjustments I tried based on various tips I found here. I'll try some more this weekend. - The mounting nuts and bolts didn't look like stainless steel so I reused the stock ones except for 2 that were too long. Thanks to all who have contributed their observations. My decision was based primarily on your input as I have never had a Stromung exhaust before.

I have 1200 Miles on the Stromung's and couldn't be happier. Was out and about this weekend playing tag with a friend and his 370 Nismo. The car ran great, sounded excellent. I am very pleased about this buy.
Question I have is, will the Rouge X-pipe fit these cans (don't see why not) and if so, will that change the sound dynamics by a lot? |

You're delusional if you think your m sounds better or even just LIKE a Lambo. (or any other real supercar for that matter)

I would imagine the x-pipe would help make the exhaust sound a bit deeper and louder.
I've put several hundred miles on the exhaust over the past two weeks and haven't noticed any difference in noise volume. |

typically, the sound should mellow and decrease in volume because of carbon deposit buildup on the innards of the mufflers themselves that reduce the amplitude and decrease the frequency of vibrations (less loud and more bassy). of course, this varies from muffler to muffler based on design.

I'm noticing *significantly less* carbon/soot buildup on the Stromung exhaust tips when compared to OEM -- which is a great thing! You guys observing the same?

Regardless, I think this is where the negativity stems from here. I'm glad you had a positive experience and are enjoying the cans. |

Johanness, I think you're right. Mine are MASSIVELY loud. You can FEEL them at all times reverberating through the car, even at idle. I called scott about it, but he just played dumb about the potential swap for the ones you ordered. Says, if anything, most people feel his is not loud enough. I beg to disagree, mine are annoyingly loud. Far beyond what I bargained for. I haven't had a chance yet to listen to anyone else's, just to hear if there's a difference.
I ABSOLUTELY should have got Remus. EVERYONE who asks my opinion anymore gets the same response: "Avoid STROMUNG, get REMUS". I will say the Stromung sure LOOKS good on my car, and certainly, EVERY head turns when I start the car. However, cruising on the highway is miserable now. I just can't stand it. No huge worries...next spare $1300 that comes along, I'll correct this mistake...then I'm sure I'll have no problem finding some kid to take the Stromung off my hands. I wonder if we could trade?? Anyone who got a STROMUNG headed to Bimmerfest East this weekend? I'll be there, and would LOVE to hear yours. Last edited by vicj; 08-05-2011 at 12:52 PM.. |

i installed mine last month, and coudnt be happier. i love the sound, and the fitment is great. my driver side also stuck out a 1/4" further than the passenger so i readjusted the bumper and it looks perfect now. also have them tucked a bit higher up as well

I noticed the outer tips discolor more than the inner tips. The exhaust has about 2000 miles.
After washing my car this morning, I noticed my driver side outer tip has a hariline crack. The picture doesn't really help too much. I will not recommend Stromung because the quality is inferior to other aftermarket exhaust. Edit: I called Stromung Exhaust and talked to Scott. He will send a replacement if they it in stock. Scott said he never seen this happen before. He think it might have been polish too and cause the metal around the edge of the tip thinner. It is difficult to determine how much the tip was polished. I have a better picture if zoom in the outer tip. I may have jump the gun a bit on the quality after talking to Scott. Last edited by RobMCoupe; 08-08-2011 at 06:36 PM.. I'm no expert, but I don't think steel would just crack unless exposed to immediate extreme temperature changes. For example, if scalding hot steel was dunked into cold water.
Anyway, nice that Scott is looking out for you. |

It's been over a month since I contacted Scott with Stromung Exhaust. I have to say this is the worse company I ever dealt with. Many phone calls and email without reply. I just left another message today and not expecting a return call.
DON'T EVER BUY FROM STROMUNG EXHAUST!!! This company do not have any customer service. The quality on their product is inferior (at least in my case). I will spread the word to NERVER deal with Stromung Exhaust whenever possible. |

^^^ Exactly. Go back a few pages and read the fun. Never met a more sketch-head businessperson in my life.

Thank you all for your feedback about the stromung company as i was thinking of getting a pair of cans from them, knowing that i don't live in the US, i figured that this would be impossible since US people are barely able to get a hold of "scott"
