Palantirion,

Can you give us an idea where you got the parts to make your splitter prototype? Namely the carbon fiber board???

The first parts were hand laid -up and individual. This comes from Earl. It looks like I'll need to pull a pattern from Earl's since we know it fits well..( if he's willing)..and then configure the stanchions and mounting points. There is some drilling to the bottom-side of the OEM cover required of course.

I had planned on a layer of Kevlar to help with possible/eminent scraping wear.

An inch more than it already does ?? I'm sure I could but even Earl denoted the down force at speed is pretty darn strong as is. More rear Aero would be a needed balance with a larger one....such as a tall wing etc.

Seriously?? No doubt splitters are very car specific...but I've seen a bunch of the local NASA guys with fairly large splitters....and these are good racers as several of them placed at nationals recently....they also have rear wings(which I plan to get).

Vorsteiner didn't do anything to a Z4M

Schnitzer,

The word would be, I'm working on taking this over .If there are any specifics you'd like to mention within your needs besides the add of length...now would be a good time to mention them/it.

Once I lock down the parent part for molding as in PLUG,no changes will be available until another rendition comes into play.

Cool. Only thing I'd do is check with Earl (he has version 1.0)to see if he'd recommend any changes...but I'm sure you've done this already.

That would be correct. He had BMS alter the fitment actually of AL's 1.0 due to some initial things. But that is handled and worked out great.

Right now...I just need to make any final hardware adjustments to suit personal taste regarding fitment and intrusion.

Also ..on mine...I wanted to incorporate the fang accent within the shape of the splitters leading edge...so it looked less like a universal part and more Z4 specific. All teh while allowing for less on-center curbing damages.

Hows that sounding ??

Sounds fine....my thinking is I'll likely break it on the track so cost is a factor...hence, my thinking is to keep it simple. BTW, I like the looks of Earl's splitter...it looks all business. Having the fangs incorporated may have a "riced-out" appearance...

Nah...if that were so.....the fangs would already be RIce...or Kraut, lol.

Either way...I would see it more as Ferrari-esk,since they have a similar shape too.

BTW... the added shape on such a flat plate design won't add any cost to the replacement if it were destroyed.

This part will be made with a CF lay-up sandwiched with 1/8" honeycomb for stiffness and weight reduction along with a Kevlar bottom layer.

If your thinking is that you will destroy it on the track.....your going to have to try and destroy your bumper cover too ,to do it,lol. This part will likely outlive your OEM cover unless you wall your nose.

Not to mention it will be Resin Infused. Which makes it stronger than an open mold wet lay-up which is resin rich and brittle.
