Replaced 5 of 6 spark plugs myself, the first one I was replacing, I stripped because the torque wrench from Harbor Freight did not click at 22lbs, and I overtightened it. There was a bit of panick from me, but I got the broken stuff out with a flathead screwdriver. Idle's not perfectly smooth, but I think its because of the last spark plug didn't have time to install the boost gauge yet. I'll try today, but its raining and I'm a bit hung over today

My underhood temps aren't too bad, I think the uprated ceramic coating on the headers is doing an amazing job I do feel that water/meth is really needed though, the car is noticeably weaker when its hot outside

I have a habit of leaving my hood open if I get home and oil temps are at 210º (center marker for you ºC guys), or were slightly above that at any point in recent driving. The counterintuitive bit is that engine temperatures can actually rise after shutdown due to cessation of air, coolant, and oil flow so all hot parts just start baking. |

I got a really nice peak boost number today, but will do a few more runs to confirm
idle isn't perfectly smooth, but the rest of the RPMs feel gooooood

but let me warn you, my gauge shows like 8.7ish and sometimes mad figures, because if you bounce the rev limiter it causes it to spike and swing on the gauge, if you can do some CLEAN runs without clipping the redline right on the nail @ 7900rpm, thats your boost...... however with your higher redline, your going to see moooorree!!! do a clean 8000rpm run in the first three gears, this will give you a very good indication of your peak boost!! the right hand button is peak ;-) i cant believe you left this like this and left me hanging!!! WTF?? boost gauge pic.... like now!!!! what boost are you thinking your getting???????????????????????????? here is mine @ 7900 rpm showing about 8.6ish psi, this was a 1st to 3rd full bore run, taking it right to the wire in terms of the redline, you know those runs where you literally brush the redline, and get the perfect full bore shift?? that was these runs... this is the most boost i ever see, im in regualr contact with ess RE this large amount of overboost, my tune however is bang on in the low to mid 11s and low 12s in the higher gears with longer pulls (4th-6th), very safe and in a good range for power :-) im Very very pleased with my high boost pulley an the performance of the car in my englands cool climate is BLISTERINGLY fast.....my tune is behaving perfectly in all the rev range, if anything id like it to lean out slighty more into the 12.3s, ess has left plety of safety margin. i LOVE my wibeband i can see exactly whats happening all the time, ill never be without one in a tuned Fi car, this is my first time having a wideband in the car and i love the benefits and the stack wideband has some sick features. ok so boost wars??? lol post up your peak!!! full bored run 1st-3rd using every last drop of the revs. 8.6ish psi boost, i wanna see that finger clearly on peak as well!!!! (fyi here is the stack wideband unit) Last edited by Beedub; 08-17-2011 at 07:55 AM.. |

thanks for the tip about hitting redline. This is what happens when I hit my redline, I also feel the power being pulled in the last few hundred RPM.
I left everyone hanging because I couldn't believe the numbers, and had to make sure with a few more runs. I regularly hit 8 to 9 psi shifting at 8000

nicee, so you have my pulley basically and your higher rpm allows boost to climb alittle higher as you get another 300rpm???
awesome, just keep an eye on AFRs...... your car must feel like a rocket!!! mine sure does!!! remember we are basically seeing vt2-550 boost ;-) 450rwhp is easy number wih our boost numbers, with my cool climate... ppooowwwweeerrr!!! remember clean runs with banging the rev limiter, and post a pic please!!!! edit just seen your pic!!! your tune will pull timing after 7900 anyway due to ess safegaurding your motor, can you do some runs as if youve got stock redline @ 7900 and post up your peak pic please!!! i.e 1st-3rd changing @ 7900 then post your peak ;-) how does the car feel?? im guessing violently fast, can you also cut loose in first and second?? i think low 11s is definatly possible with the correct tyres, your opinion on that?? Next step is getting on a dyno, and an AFR gauge. I ordered the 3d design gauge pod through my shop, it should be here in 2 weeks or so I'm told.
Car behaves like timing is really pulled after 7900rpm, so the 8200 redline is probably just there to keep me from bouncing off the rev limiter. When I ran it to 7900 last night, I hit a clean 9psi, and today at around 7800 or so I hit 8psi. I'll do some more clean runs later. Traction in 1st gear...well...needs partial throttle to fully hook up. Top of second gear it tries to break loose with traction on. I didn't turn traction off because it wasn't safe to get sideways on a narrow road Overall the car feels very strong up top, and mid-range torque is much better since I've replaced my spark plugs. No more CELs, no more limp modes. Just not a perfectly smooth idle, which RMM Motorsports will look into this week Over-all, I'm very happy! And I loooooove the boost gauge. I'm so glad I spent a little extra to get it

based on the red vt2-500's 11.8@123, he had drag radials and hit a 1.6 second 60 time. I think thats near the best time this car can run. Maybe mid 11s are possible with more power than him, but I don't think low 11s

after 8k the tune basically goes into protect the engine mode, lol and imo i think thats a good thing....... what did i tell you about the gauge?? awesome piece of kit, the wideband is nearly elecitrical porn... lol what did you set your warning to?? ive sent my warning @ 7psi so i know EXACTLY when im over the 7psi mark. the stack pro unit are imo the best gauge avaible on the market... unfortunatly very expensive, the 3 gauges, with all the bits needed to install was enough to make a grown man cry.... worth it??? you bet ya!! the traction control light on my car is pretty much a solid light in the first 2 gears, lol.... p.s hows your blower sounding now youve thrown some proper boost/use through it??

he was hitting 7psi though so im guessing 415-20 rwhp... with our higher boost i reckon we could edge into the low 11s.... hell that could just be wishful thinking, but id like to think we could do that.......

I didn't have time to set the gauge up. I tried to change the background from green, yet didn't do it right. Its slightly a pain in the ass to set up, but I was in a hurry.
Right now its green when negative, and white after that. hate the green! Blower sounds the same as before, and I think I never had any boost leaks, its the half working throttle position sensor and old spark plugs that were holding me back. I hope the dyno will confirm I'd also like to change my header gaskets, they sound a little buzzy (I re-used my old ones on the stock euro header swap) I actually wish the wideband had an analog needle to match the others. My friend has a vbox, and we'd like to get some numbers before the week's end. Tires are definitely the weak point right now

would be so fun to ditch the seats, battery, and wheels for something light, thereby losing 100lbs+ from the car....
eventually I will. I'll be keeping this one for a looong time
