I just emailed him and he called me on my cell phone.
We had a good discussion about mounting and using the mounting rods. If you are NOT going to track your car, then as stated before the rods are not needed. Since I do track my car the rods are needed. I do not like the look of the rods... so we discussed other options. I commented that the front of the splitter will not flex but the entire splitter will rotate since the bumper cover is plastic. He agreed. One option I have is to use removable rods. I then commented that I was looking at maybe mounting the rods internal to the bumper cover since the entire splitter will rotate and placing the rods closer to the center of the plate will be much more effective. This was a good idea, and he also said that the mounting/stabilization rods should be mounted to some type of hard structure for best performance. So I will investigate this when I get ready to mount the splitter. He also commented that if I put a lot of splitters leading edge in front of the bumper you will get front more down force, at the expense of rear stability. I have to evaluate this. I may not want to extend the splitter as far forward as some who don't track their cars. I WILL NOT put a wing on my car.... So I may have to investigate on a rear lip to help offset the front though a rear lip will not come close to offsetting the front splitter. Just some things to think about if you take your car to the track. crfine88 can elaborate more on this subject since he has first hand experience with it and I am only relating some of the points we talked about. |

As crfine88 said in a previous post, you do need them on the track and Tom reiterated it.
I just don't like the look of the rods, external. I do think that quick disconnect rods would work. Put them on when you get to the track and then take them off after... After thinking about this a while, I am going to try to engineer a quick disconnect set of rods mounts that you can remove from reaching into and behind the bumper cover after removing one or both grills... but I don't know until I really look at this. |

Yeah I was thinking that at worst case scenario, I'd use the rods on track and take them off for street. I too do not personally prefer the look either.

Aerodynamic discussion to follow I can tell you, that at speed, this car has little downforce - gets very light feeling in the steering wheel over slight elevation changes at > 120mph

I don't really mind the rod's, you probably can powder coat them in the car color or black and that will really change the look of it, I know some quick release rods tho, I will post the website later today if I can find them online

Some pictures of the quick release rods, I still trying to find the website tho
but the install is very simple one center pin on the V looking bracket on the splitter and the little black thing with screw hidden on the bumper, but I seeing people instal the other way around tho or just with the little black things and not the other part. Also the they had 45 angles w/o the v looking thing (individual pieces) Last edited by Diokaef; 01-24-2011 at 08:06 PM.. |

^ Those look cool, but I don't understand how they work
Will hafta do some reading up on those thingamabobs. But APR has some options available. I might just have them throw the hardware kit in, along with their quick-release rod or something: http://www.aprperformance.com/index....d=83&Itemid=44 |

Well, the v thing comes out of the splitter after you use, it just use on center pin to attach it to the splitter and the other side u just turn right one time to release, so the small black things stay attached to the bumper kind uses pressure to secure everything, I used before but I don't it what was intended for that use originally.
but I seeing used the other way around before, so the v thing in the inside the bumper and black small things in the splitter. The v thing goes in the center of the splitter, but I know they have other types of connectors for the rods if you want to use two point attachment, I will try to find some pictures and post it here. |

List updated
I will update the list on page one post #4 at least once a day. I will add "paid" and "shipped" to give a general status and then send tracking numbers by PM once I get them from Tony. Tony let me know that he is already in contact with other members; this is just the most current info as of last night. Quote:
