Installed the alarm kit this past Sunday...somewhat easy to do. It chirp once when armed and twice on disarmed. The clown nose does blink, but only after about 1/2 a minute or so after arming (locking). I'm going to have the dealer code it soon (still needs to call around for price quote), but how do you guys check/test to see if the alarm is actually working after the coding? I tried locking the car using the remote with the windows down, then reach inside to open the door from the inside door pull, but to my surprise, the door wouldn't unlock...is this normal? The only way to unlock the door was to use the remote. When the door is lock using the inside lock button or autolock upon driving off feature, you can normally open the door with 2x pull. But, when locking with the remote, you can't open the door from the inside at all...anyone else ran into this problem?

Hey ShipK;
Just to clarify, what do you mean by works? Did you get yours activated? or Are you talking about the chirps that work after install w/o activation? Mine works fine on install with chirps (1 armed, 2 disarmed) & clown nose. I'll be in to see my Indi on Friday, so I'll see what happens wrt activation.

Since there seems to be a variety of results with activation. I'll post my activation results after Friday.

Popping the trunk with the key shouldn't make the alarm go off, should it? Since you are opening it with the key, I would assume that it's smart enough to know that and should not set off the siren. On my X5, with the alarm activated, popping the trunk with the key won't set off the alarm. I'll see if I can reach down far enough to pop the hood

To set off your alarm if activiated, I sat in my car activiated the alarm and just pressed the unlock button on the center console. I opened the door and alarm went off =) i just slid the serive advisor 50 dollars under the table to activate my alarm along with daytime running lights and auto lock after going above 10mph

I thought it was an activation option for the alarm to work(enable/disable) with fob only or with both fob & key.

I selected option to arm/disarm with remote and key. The key will arm/disarm when driver door is lock/unlock. I find it strange the hatch do not work like the door. I am not going back to dealer for that. It took them two hours to get all my programs back with single chirp to arm and double chirp to disarm. My car had the symptom where it did not chirp when arm.

It sure would be nice to know what they did for the arm chirp.

I had mine activated by my Indi today.
Worked like a charm; no issues with the chirps.

Had my dealer activated the alarm today. Took them 3+ tries and over 2+ hours and the arming (single) chirp only works about 20%-30% of the time. It's very strange that the chirp only works intermittently. I would expect it to either chirp or don't chirp upon arming, but find it weird that it will only intermittently chirp when I arm it. I'll let it "sleep" overnight and see what happens...may have to bring it back to the dealer next week to get this sorted out

So I'm about to order alarms for my coupe and my dad's roadster, and just trying to clarify things... seem like there are 3 versions of the alarm?
Basic Alarm (65730302424) $38 Chirps on lock/unlock; and alarm will sound if doors, hood, or trunk (maybe) are opened. Regular Alarm (65730309944) $120 Adds the incline sensor. Alarm with Motion Sensor $245 Adds the interior motion detector for the roadsters. Is this right? And are any additional parts needed for any of the kits?

FYI, like you, mine chirps in disarming but not on arming...

Don't think that's it. I tried your suggestion and waited until the interior lights goes out (which meant the car has recognized all doors are shut) prior to arming the alarm...still no chirp
