Wow, it's been a while since I've revved an engine while standing outside the car. I think the last car I had with a throttle cable was my 1995 Nissan Altima!
Looks great and sounds great. And are you sure those are undies? They're look longer than most of my shorts. |

Looks awesome Vanne! That sound is intoxicating. Are you going to run an extra hose from the "intake" on the underside after the snorkel to get even more air into the intake? Nr 9 and 10 in this link: http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E4...r_duct_system/
I don't know if I've missed it, but is there a parts list somewhere of what you need to buy except for the intake itself and the tune? The things that need to be modified are the placement of the dipstick, swap the MAF to a IAT by soldering and a longer vacuum hose? |

Yep. I have those hoses, but as it is now, much easier to fabricate something that will run more ram air from the left fang intake to the snorkel. As it is, the snorkel sits 80 percent over the oem intake. Running the full hoses, woukd require massive metal modification near the bottom.of the left headlight. Not so sure how that would sit with me as its structual. Next time I have my front bumper off ill have a good looksee and see if I can mod it from the left fang intake and route it in without cutting the frame.
Parts list? Yep I have one, though mine isnt as extensive as some as I decided to fabricate my own vacuum hoses and a few other bits and pieces. For completeness of the thread ill post up the bits and pieces you need to order to fit the box in. Glad you like it ;-) Thanks guys, the comments are much appreciated. My plans for the front bumper are a smaller extra oil cooler fabricated behind the right fang intake and to force ram air from the left fang into the snorkel. Theyre pretty useless at blowing ram air on my tires atm |

Just updating the tread a bit, and formulating my next bunch of mods..
The car has now done about 1500km on the Epic tune and carbon air box, and its just faultless. The sounds, the torque, did i mention the sound? Loving it very much. Absolutely zero issues with the install and its running like a dream. **Update from last month*** Bought some KW Clubsports and GC end links. also bought some E46 front strut protection plates (still to be installed) This setup drives great, I was a little worried that with these spring rates it was going to be way too stiff, but it actually suits my car and is perfect for it. Thanks Alex for a great set of dampers and springs. Finally also got around to installing new rotors (OEM) front and rear, boy that was about time, and fitted the Stoptech brake pads that had been hibernating in my parts room for about a year.. I had been running for about 1.5 years now with a non-responsive O2 sensor, finally bit the bullet and while i had the car apart on a lift, i replaced the O2 sensor. No more running lean mixture code. I then went and investigated a couple of bits and pieces to upgrade the interior of my car. My steering wheel, doesn't look perfect and at the top, the leather shows some sun marks and a few bite marks from my little Jackson when he was 1.5, he was standing up on the drivers seat and while i was working in the engine bay, he decided to test his chompers out on my steering wheel, not damage, just a little indentation.. you can't see it much anymore, but the sun fade is still definitely there.. So i contacted an outfit in Germany on advise from bmwZ, to re-upholster the steering wheel, e-brake cover, e-brake and arm rest, in the same Alcantara as my gear knob and gear boot. As its starting to get a little warmer out here, i decided to wait another few weeks while driving is still good, and as it turns out, something else came in the way of this... Currently being custom made in Germany and to be delivered hopefully next week sometime. This AC Schnitzer diffusor requires extensive modification to the rear bumper, (not looking forwards to that) but will hopefully be very nice when installed.. download the install manual Here ... Cant wait !! Bought 2 stickers, but will only use one on the underside right side of the diffuser against the side.. Hope that will plan out ok, if not, ill remove it. Picture shows black background, but in actual fact there is no background, the wording and M signia only. At the same time, some guys here on the forum re-started up a thread about the initially done by Ron Stygar, Z3M ashtray gauge mod. And I love this ascetically pleasing and at the same time very functional mod. So going ahead with that, quite a few guys here have already done said mod, and as such info is readily available .. (thanks guys, you know who youse are ) Bought this set as a proof of concept, hopefully will go and sort this without too much dramas. Not sure how to run the leads from the sensors yet back into the cabin, if the whole centre console needs to come out for this, then i may revisit a few things for the upper mention about re-uphostelering some parts in Alcantara. I know gauges these day are also available in digital, and to be honest, thats probably much much better, but I am an old Analog kinda guy and i love the simplicity of these gauges. Going for Oil PX, Water Temp and Voltage. we will see... Hopefully that updates us to where we are at now..

Wow..... You sir, are on a roll!
Nice to see the exhaust trims in CF, I always thought that the original was a little cheesy in that respect. (Plastic) Love what your doing Vanne

I'm speechless (which for me is saying something LOL)!! Just amazing stuff Vanne! I can't wait to see and hear the finished product.
You'll have to get some special drawers for the inaugural run! |

While in the states, rounding up some parts for the next mod.. Ive ordered them, and now hope this next part will come together.
2 sets of these to mount the chairs and a few bits and pieces to mount the seatbelt receptacles. I need to have a look at which sliders are the go, and if its worth while installing these as its possible my missus might need to drive the car.. I also still need to order the passenger seat occupancy simulator. any heads up to ones that are good, please let me know

My floor mounts and side mounts came in yesterday, now just waiting for new seats to arrive. (going to be at least another 5 weeks or so). I also have the Pax sensor emulator, that came in a few days ago.
Its probably going to be that time to pull the car off the road for a while, starting to get warm anyways, so ill do that after i get my yearly road worthy check done this week. Gotta remove parts of the interior, steering wheel, Ebrake, door handles and send them off to be ..made better. and i still have to take the car to get its new rear quarter windows installed, and the rear diffusor. boy lots to do with the car..
