I was able to complete the install last night; it took about 2.5 hours with the help of a friend. Removing the stock intake was definitely harder than installing the new one, but overall it wasn't terribly difficult. The hardest part was releasing the squeeze clips that connected many of the hoses. We did get it done without breaking anything and I was quite relieved when the engine fired up and no check-engine light appeared.
If anyone is interested, I made a video highlighting some of the steps we undertook to remove the stock manifold. Hopefully this will be useful for others who wish to do this mod. Next step is the Active Auto Werk tune. Can't wait! |

Im soo tempted to get a new intake from car-part.com and drop in into my 325i. I just hit 180k miles on it today, but it still drives great and has alot of power, but I know its being held back and this manifold seems to be the definitive reason. So if I do actually go through with this, what is the best used car model I should try to snag an intake from. give me the" ( )i model and year" this will help me thx.

Ya, the stock tune is another huge reason for power limiting,(I can feel the lag when pressing the pedal sometimes). Im gona wait till I have money then do the manifold and straight pipe and then get the tune to set it perfectly. it should cost around 300-400 for the manifold/straightpipe mod/tips and then 400-500 for a tune or lower I hope. Im not rich and this is the best car im gona get for a while so if these mods actually help wiith performance im down to start modding baby. Also those reuploaded pics would be great for when I start the mod since they are still blocked or removed.

A few members have sorted how to flash custom tunes over standard Dcan cables. They are working on safe distribution methods before going any more public than they already have. A file to convert your 3.0 I to an SI is very easy to prep. I did mine like two years ago. Aside from the hassles of the RSA bypass getting your car to run a 3.0si. File is one byte change and a checksum correction. Lately I've been working on custom automatic tunes for my Z4. Been running these for a few months and they totally transformed the car. Raised rev limits, faster shifts, gear display in all modes etc. it's been fun and I'm hoping to have a safe way to distribute the trans tune when the above mentioned group release the software. Stay tuned. |

Yes it did,
Soft launch but it’s there. Check out BimmerLabs.com You can now unlock your DME and flash 3.0si files into you 3.0i If you have an automatic, there is a teaser file that runs on you gear display in D and sport mode and fixes the upshift after turn delay in sport mode. |

I have a 2006 Z4 E85 2.5i with 175 BHP, 169 lbft torque, and want to bring it to Si engine spec with 215 BHP, 184 lbft torque.
From what I can see the only engine difference is a different intake manifold, additional DISA valve and remap. The 2.5i has a two-stage manifold that is tuned to maximise power and torque in the low and middle RPM ranges, the 2.5Si manifold adds a third stage that makes more power at higher RPM. Low and middle RPM torque are unchanged. I have purchases a secondhand E90 325i N52 manifold part no 11617559525 and a new smaller DISA valve part no. 11617560538. Apparently the 2.5i wiring harness already has the connection for the second DISA valve, and the same throttle body should be ok. The larger DISA valve part no 11617579114 can be reused. (The 2.5i manifold part no is 11617559526) It is also recommended to fit a new 90 degree elbow crankase vent/heater, as the old one was subject to a BMW recall. The set up should enable more efficient cylinder filling above 3,500 RPM, and should be a straight forward swap, however it wont yield the extra power without a remap. Has anyone carried out this or a similar change, and if so can they recommend where I can get the ECU remaped/flashed. I have seen options in the US, but would appreciate any info for the UK and in particular Northern Ireland. If not possible is anyone selling a 2.5 Si ECU? |

We know how to fix this. Look at bimmerlabs.com. A gracious individual has made it possible for most N52 owners to beat the power class validations. If you don't find your car listed. Send an email. It's not that hard to develop the needed files. |
