It was exactly as expected, excellent. Full bodied but not overbearing, fruity but not too sweet. Balance. It was 100% ready to drink now. I am envious of your stash!

I don’t recall exactly, but I’m thinking this bottle was maybe $50-$70. Worth it! It is a nice blend.

Belles Vignes Sauvignon Blanc. I got this to make a mushroom risotto and also liked it in the glass. Great for an under $10, at $5. It’s at Trader Joe’s.

hubbahubba I'm not implying that you drink a lot of wine but when I saw that, I thought of you.

Happy Father’s Day to all of you guys that qualify. Going to make a nice dinner, and have this breathing for a good four hours.

I have Always been a fan of MASH. Ever since I heard Winchester talk about Châteauneuf-du-Pape, I have wanted to try it, but never have. Tonight is the night. Smells great, and looks chewy. Also have the Midnight Moon out to soften.

The casualties from Saturday evening's steak dinner on the grill. The chard was very good, buttery and full body.

The Outpost cab was exceptional, very complex and lots of red fruit flavors.

The pinot was a bit overshadowed by the other 2 bottles, and being the 3rd that we drank that night, out taste buds might have been a bit dulled... Still a good bottle, but could probably use a few years to lay down in the cellar.

Would love a report on both of these. I've loved the 1993 Burgs I've had (but I bought way too few of them back in the day), and old SH Chard is a bit legendary, though I've never had one.

Had dinner with some local winos on Saturday. We had an out-of-town special guest, so the big guns came out. I'm a piker, cellar-wise, in this group but they are kind enough to include me. Many highlights but this legend stood out. My first and surely only chance to have a few oz of this one. It lived up to the hype, a very special treat. 2019 Drouhin Montrachet, 2018 DRC Echezeaux, and 1999 Bruno Giacosa Barolo "Faletto" were also highlights, along with some German stickies at the end, but the Heitz was the star.

Breathing for dinner. And just because I was at the dealership for service this morning, a sweet M5.

Returned from our second trip to the Finger Lakes (in NY) last week, with 4 cases of wine in the car and 2 more being shipped to us. The region is known for Rieslings and has a good range from dry (our preference) to sweet (definitely NOT our preference). Also found some good rose, some whites and casual reds (mostly cab francs and blends). Stand-out wineries were Kemmeter (husband and wife team. He is the wine maker and does tastings by appointment only and she makes amazing dumplings we had for lunch before our tasting), Anthony Road and Red Newt.

Sena is one of our go-to’s. The 2019 not quite on par with the 2018 but still a good wine.
