Since this is now an N24 thread, and not an F1 thread:
One driver killed in a massive multi car crash during the N24 qualifier. I have still to see a single clip of the accident, increadible that there's no footage. |

If it's true it's Juha Miettinen, then he should be the driver of the light blue BMW seen in the left of the frame of this clip (only footage of the crash currently available).

Crazy pic, put that was not from today and the crash in question. The bimmer that crashed should be blue, I posted a pic of it earlier in the thread where i speculated it could be Juha Miettinen.
The guy who made the video you got that picture from is so incredibly immoral and greedy that I don't have words. |

I've been following Indycar this season (and IndyNXT last season), hoping Dennis Hauger can show he's worth it to one of the good teams. Hoping for something like top 10-15 this season, that would be an amazing result for him I think.

A terrible and tragic freak accident. And from what we know currently, not his fault at all
![]() Ultimately though, this is racing, and this is the Green Hell after all. Put any normie in the car with these drivers and they'll say "Holy shit you're crazy going this fast". They take a risk, and they know they take a risk. I hope there will be no increase in safety regulations because of this. That is, if it applies to the cars or anything that would be (in any way) detrimental to the pleasure of the racing sport for the spectators. I'm not necessarily against increasing safety of the barriers, although they'd ultimately make it even more expensive for normies to drive on the ring. And we don't even know if softer/slower barriers would make a difference in this instance. This isn't the first soul the Green Hell has consumed, and it certainly won't be the last. We all got to go someday (and somehow), it's an inevitability of life, a result of being lucky enough to even have a chance of life. Was this the worst way to go for Juha Miettinen? Perhaps... ...but also, perhaps not. And for all we know, perhaps it was a good way to go? R.I.P. Juha Miettinen, along with all the others that I do not know the name of. |

Yeah racing and safety is always a very complicated discussion.
Especially with tracks like the Nordschleife. Incredibly beautiful, so much history, but also unsafe... Although racing cars (and the protection barriers) get safer all the time, the cars themselves also get a lot faster, so chances are that crash impact speeds go up too. But it's always difficult to make regulations that make the cars slower because of safety. Especially F1 is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsports. Although making the cars radically slower (say narrower tyres, harder compounds, smaller engines) I think won't give less spectacular racing, but it also doesn't invite people to watch 'the pinnacle of motorsports' Indicar basically has a cupcar (Dallara I think) and is only popular in the US but not in the rest of the world. Of course there are also races like the TT of Man. Those guys are nuts but something inside me says that I should go in the very near future now that it's still held yearly. Talk about historical significance. If you ask me: better to die at 66 in a racing accident than to die at 66 from cancer but that's not a fair comparison of course. Less than 3 years ago Dilano van 't Hoff died at Spa in a formula class at only 18 years old. That is very sad. So young.
