Here is the pre and post install dyno run from Good Speed. 95 degree air temp and 60 day old 91 octane fuel. I had hoped for better numbers but the ESS VT-1 went on without a hitch. So far I like whay I see. I have since put some 93 in and have run it at 68 degree air temps. Having the speed limter cranked up is also a plus because it will go that fast! I am looking forward to the VT-2 intercooler upgrade...

Why does anyone need a boost gauge?

Does ESS have one for a 3.0si (I see it's motly on ///M)? If you add the ESS super charger to a 3.0si does one need to upgrade any of the other driveline components? I'm just wondering (I will not consider this till the warranty is out (couple of years from now) but just wanted to know about any other costs one would need to do automatically.

Good question. The reason I have one is to make sure I'm making the boost I should. Being an airline pilot, I love gauges anyway I also have AFR, EGT, FUEL PSI, and NITROUS gauges to monitor impending problems. Is all this required? NO, but it's a habit from my job and I'm annal as F$%^ with my 25,0000$ engine. By the way, my impression of the ESS supercharger kit.. vt1 or 2 is absolutely astonishing! I have the VT2-500 and it is a beast. If you are remotely considering this kit.... just DO IT!! You will smile every time you drive. Right BEEDUB?? |

the clips on the intake manifold and on the charger itself, at one point mine loosened so much i was loosing boost but now their holding, after a few weeks of thermal cycling, just keep an eye on them trust me ;-) you'll need to be quarduple jointed and have a flexible jubilee clip driver as they are allitlle difficult to get to ;-)

Anyone having a problem with the increased torque and the tranny? I am getting a little gear-jumping while pushing the rpm's. I think I may have a problem but I am having a hard time diagnosing it. It seems as if shifting shoulf be smoother, especially under normal road conditions as apposed to the rapid rev changes at the track.

iwantacookie, no probs here, my as the boost build is so gradual i wouldnt expect tranny issues, at the 5psi we run on our vt1's the load is very broadly spread as we are hitting 5psi at 7900rpms, but i suppose lots of standing starts could cause issues, i would expect the clutch to show up issues before the gearbox.

Im gonna order mine in the next couple weeks, since they told me the dont have any in stock right now, they also told me they are replacing some parts on it, like a newer more refined version i guess. After reading all this reviews it seems almost impossible to wait that long, glad for all of you guys that are enjoying the kit already.

To all who have installed the ess I have a couple of questions. I live in mexico city and will be driving up to texas to have it installed. (can any of you recommend a good shop) also do you need to upgrade the clutch, and lastly is reliability the same for the two kits vt1 and vt2? as I dont want to have problems down here where reputable shops are a few.
regards diego. |

1. make sure the kit is delivered and ready to install at your shop before making the long drive 2. clutch is strong on the stock car, unless you have unusual wear on it. I have the 500hp kit and the stock clutch is fine for it 3. the reliability might be HIGHER on the VT2 kit because of the additional cooling it provides, but the install is very hard to get right on your first try. 4. you're gonna love it
