Greetings from Detroit!
I'm not sure why I waited almost two years to venture on to this board! I've learned so much more about my car, even though I still don't have the answer I was looking for. I'll mention that below...
I drive a LOT and I have the pleasure of doing most of it in my 2006 Z4 COUPE 6sp - Black metallic paint, red interior, blacked out windows/wheels, intake upgrade and the worst factory sound system I've ever heard lol. Okay, I don't hate the stereo, but there is room for improvement. I've experienced no issues with the car except for the last few months when my passenger side window started making a horrible squealing sound. It doesn't always do it, which is why it confuses me. I saw another post where the respondent said it would have to be a faulty window motor. However, it sounds like friction noise...rubber versus ??? Has anyone else experienced this? Any input would be appreciated! Look forward to chatting more, Christine |

Thank you!
Thank you!
I really love this car!!! It was very well taken care of and now I actaully drive it every day I can. I am not happy winter is coming though!!! The leaves are changing now along the finger lakes and I am looking forward to a nice drive this weekend with the top down! Let me know if you are ever in the fingerlakes area of NY State. I have seen a few more Z4's around and hope to try to meet up with a few of them one of these days.

Window Noise
[QUOTE=imperigal;12743595]
I have a 2004 Z4 and I had a noise in my passenger door and squeak when I open or closed it. I could also hear a rattle when the door was closed. For a while I just tried to be careful closing the door but it actually slid down in one day. I took it to a local shop and they found that there was a bolt that was loose. The good part was that it was only like $60 to get the window fixed however they had to disconnect the side airbag and after several attempts were never able to reset the airbag indicator light in the dash. I have to actually get it to a BMW Dealer to have it reset. I also need my 30,000 mile service anyway, just need to find time to head to the closest dealer about 1 hour away. Not sure if this helps you any but it may be worth looking at. Just make sure the shop you take it to has the correct software to clear out any codes. If they have to open the door panel they will disconnect the airbag first so it does not deploy. It is BMW specific software and the local shop here said that the Z4’s are a European model and the general BMW software will not work. Good luck and I am sure you will continue to love the car!!!

Hi Guys. I've owned my Z4M roadster for about 3 months now and love it. I've made several trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Dragon, and the Cherohalla Skyway and it is a blast to drive. Almost as much fun as my busa, and I get to have the wife along. I like the site and have already learned lots. I'm not a huge poster, but I'll be around. Thanks!

Giddy in NorCal
Hi all. I'm new to the board and my Interlagos Blue '07 Z4 M Coupe is new to me. Stock except for a short shift knob, an aluminum hand brake cover and a stubby antenna--all installed by the PO(s). After several years away from the auto-x & HPDE scene I got the itch again. This time the kids are (almost) out of the house and my wife encouraged me to get the car I wanted. I love that woman. I spent 15 years with my beloved 95 325is before it finally gave up (or more accurately, I gave up on it). Best memory of the 325... lapping Laguna Seca in the rain with my wife falling asleep in the passenger seat--either I'm really smooth or I drive like a grandmother. Anyway, it's off to a car control clinic and auto-x in Monterey in a few weeks for my first taste of go-fast. Looking towards Thunderhill in November if that goes well.

Hi I just picked up a 2003 2.5. I wanted a 3.0 but for my price range this was it. I have a few things to do to it such as the windshield cowl, a few buttons, and a plug. Just small things.

Well I didn't want to question the deal too much until it went all through and all the papers were signed! Afterwards I started asking questions.
Q.I asked him why he sold the car? A. He said 1. reason was that he is 54 years old and weighs 260lbs (It was too hard to get in and out of the car). 2. he said the car got terrible mpg.(DuH! it is Hi performance not a hybrid!) 3. He said the final straw that broke his back was that he got banned from this ZPost site recently (Then he started using profantity and I just ignored the rest of his rant) I think he was just a dumb ass with more money than good sense! |

I am 54, weigh 238 and 6 ft 1 and get in and out of my M just fine. I can see where the additional 30 lbs might be a hinderance if your not in good shape so thats a good a reason as any. As for the gas milage, your right. Duh!
You got lucky at that price, like the guy down the street rants, "Don't forget to leave and drive it like you stole it" which you pretty much did. Congratulations.
