Well done grannknot -
Some disassembly and reassembly required....

This looks like a difficult and exacting process.

No, not at all, One T20 screw at the top of the cluster, pull the unit out, remove the wiring connector, then 4 little screws on the back of the cluster and a couple of tab clips that you lift with a small screw driver, very straight forward.
Just pull the steering wheel out and down as far as possible so you have some room to work.

Great progress on the car! For lingering scents, I usually just stick a couple dryer sheets in the interior. If that doesn't clean it up after a couple days, an ozone bomb should do the trick.

But then it would smell of dryer sheets
I think I may have to buy or borrow an Ozone generator, from what I have read it should take care of it.

That makes sense, the car was originally from Quebec and I don't believe radar detectors are illegal there.
Thanks

Have been illegal in Quebec for decades (if you're caught)

I installed the new cowl cover today and then headed over to a Z4MC buddy's place and he coded out the irritating tire pressure sensor light on the instrument cluster.
He also replaced the DPS programming for the Coupe with the program for the Roadster.
The sound is much better now, I'm not well versed enough in acoustics to say how it is better, but I wanted to switch over to the Roaster DPS program because I had read more than a few guys saying it was superior to the sound from a DPS Coupe and they are right.

Its DSP actually as in Digital Sound Processing. Don't have exact details how they made it better in Roadster but basically it sounds cleaner, bass is tighter and overall a more enjoyable experience listening to music in the E86 cabin. Coding is done via NCS Expert using a mix of settings off of e83, e85 and e86 platforms.

DSP roadster settings on a coupe is the bomb, the coupe settings make the sound system over bassy. Which make speakers distort very quickly even at low volumes. The roadsters calibration improves vastly, now it sounds like a quality system. Enough for regular people.

I got the last two midrange speakers behind the seats swapped out this morning and the sound system is great now, or at least sounds better than any system I have ever had.
My God did BMW make those last two speakers a difficult process. You have to remove 8-9 separate pieces of the rear console and all of them have multiple hidden clips and screws.

I was at it for three hrs trying not to break clips, and you have to remove at least one seat to get any kind of access.
I had to pull the drivers seat anyway to install my old track lap belt, going to my first track day in this car in a couple weeks so trying to get everything sorted out so I can push it.

It has been a productive long weekend, pulled the old D/S door seal this morning and replaced with the new OEM, fits perfectly.
It is helpful if you remove the A&B pillar covers but it can be done with them still on, but you must remove the threshold scuff plate.
You need to clean all contact areas with alcohol or something to remove the old stickum from the original seal.

The door needs to be pushed a little firmer to close it now but few hrs in the sun should relax seal enough.
