FINALLY got a replacement controller/brain box for the AEM meth/water injection and installed it. I still have to correct the low fluid sensor position and run a power wire to my interior since I'll be installing a hidden power switch. Last time the system was on the whole time, and I went through the meth/water in 2 days. This time I won't use it on busy roads and in traffic.
So. I tested it. Ambient temperature was about 85*F, but once it kicked in, there was a noticeable boost in power that came on very smoothly and really made the top end much stronger. Definitely felt like 20-30rwhp boost. Its set to progressively turn on at 2psi and run to 8psi. So it turns on around 3500rpm. Very very happy I got it working again. When I had it working originally I didn't get the full effect because I was testing it in temps under 60*F. Now I feel it and it feels great. Now its time to schedule a dyno session in a few weeks

Take your combined fuel injector cc and use a total meth injection nozzle as follows: 10% for 100% water 15% for 50/50 meth/water 20% for 100% meth So for a 50/50 mix; use a 150cc nozzle with 1000cc fuel injectors.

Which is? Are you able to see the difference on your AFR gauge?

place the smallest knozzle as further away as possible from the intake mani AFTER the intercooler, on the 500 kits we use the smallest knozzle... using a 50/50 mix due to our pretty long boost pipework, we get the effects of a superchily AIT and minimal AFR changes.... if installed correctly you'll barely notice a difference on the AFR gauge.... i see 11.4 @ WOT on meth were talking 11.2ish.... its literally like running the car on one of those supercool winters days ..... its a really nice setup and works really well... As you know mounted directly to the intake and spray direct port would mean were using it as a fuel ( would need a specific tune).... which is the complete opposite of what we want in this situation... All we want is the cooling effect on the AIT and as a nice bonus the cleaning effect of the steam created as it all atomises.... because of where ESS mounted the AIT sensor... the car is basically fooled into thinking its super cold and does all the changes for us.... when it runs out... it simply thinks hmmmm its warm again... back to the other settings... no failsafes needed as the ess tune dials everythink back.... after driving this car on a sunny winters day last year -6 it was that day.... the power difference was incredible.. i dont use that word lightly.... so meth is a really nice little bonus for us. we see an easy 35-45rwhp on hot days using the setup as above. The effects are even better on the 550 kit.... which il b ordering next week!!! wahooooo..

yeah I don't have an AFR gauge, but I'll have some hard dyno numbers soon, and some hard before/after quartermile track numbers too
the new controller SEEMS to be using a lot less meth/water than the old one too, so it might even be cheap enough for me to keep this thing on most of the time. I might even dial it to kick in at 3psi, which would further decrease its use and cost of consumables Right now I'm using a 49/51 pre-mixed "Boost Juice" which runs $9/gallon. I've been tipped off about a place where I can buy pure methanol, and mix it myself to save money. Beedub, I'm jealous about your upgrade! super jealous. Make sure to make a detailed thread comparing the replacement parts

I've been researching running a non-tune dependant meth system just for cooling and putting 6 injectors in the manifold like so (but not so tacky as in this pic):

yeah good idea.... you could be use de-ionized water as the mixing agent with the meth, this should be readily available and much cheaper than the boost juice... thanks bro.... ill b ordering the kit next week for my birthday.... like i have done for the last 2 years on each upgrade consecutively.. all i pray is its a reliable and runs like the vt-500 which imo.... is a fabulous kit.... BUT... i want the Tq the 550 kit offers.... that 2 psi nudges the blowers right into its efficiency range and starts... when i arrives ill give you some detailed specs on the intercooler/parts ect... which BTW is the same size just .5" deeper. at this point the 550 upgrade is minor now in terms of parts.... With meth in place im hoping to finally break the 500rwhp. i always wanted..... Once ive pressed the button ill make a thread.... Very very excited!! 80mm pulley sooooonnnn!!! While im getting the 550 tune done i'll get Ess to activate the shift lights. This months salary see's the final bit of change i need :-)

130cc is the knozzle we use .... the 150 bogs the car and looses power..... im guessing on the 550 the 130 may not make much difference and the 150cc will be the one i want.

rate m... only problem is see which spraying right their is no time for the mix to atomise.... which would lead to it being used a fuel... therefore needing a tune to run it. I guess VF would be able to chime in more on that. Its one of the things of love about air/air.... piss easy meth plumbing.....
i love the setup on the direct port meth.... if i had the balls to run a proper meth tune the gains are big.

I'm going page by page on that german ************ website and collecting as much data as I can. I read the whole thread about that individual cylinder meth job. The only reason he did it is because the VF kit uses a air/water cooler that is set up inside the intake manifold. So for him to spray where we spray, it would technically be spraying into a radiator type setup, and wouldn't come out as clean and atomized as going on our single kits. He said if he had an air-air intercooler, he would have gone the single nozzle route. The way I see it, the simpler the better Thanks for the data on the intercooler upgrade size! There is actual a special math formula to figure out the size of the intercooler u need, but I don't have the time to dig it up. When I upgrade mine, I'll just get one that would be able to support 600rwhp to future-proof myself

kinda hard to shift perfectly when TC is off, and you're holding the camera in the same hand thats holding the steering wheel correcting wheelspin First short clip is rolling onto the throttle in 1st gear, letting off near top of 3rd. Second part is flooring the throttle in middle of 2nd gear to demonstrate throttle response. Traction is pretty good in 80*F heat =) Going by the video as a rough estimate, this matches or beats my previous 50-70 acceleration of 2.0 seconds which was done in the dead of winter

hi tom i see why on the VF setups.... thats the only Air'd part of the setup to use a wrong term.... however.... your thoughts on the spraying into the cooling bit made me smile!!! re read it and you can see why i smiled :-) on the VF setup how about using a cryo system to cool the water radiator?? as its the water the cools the air.... this may help a little.... and you are 100% correct.. simpler the better....

This morning i had a rough initial idle with some burps and white smoke out of the tail pipes. In a minute the idle settled down. I drove 10 feet, the rpms dropped and the car wouldn't restart. Now it doesnt even crank. Its possibly hydrolocked or the headgasket blew. Headgasket looks ok on the perimeter. Will check what i can with my limited tools today, then tow it to a local shop (((

ok can you share some more details?? kinda strange that your meth is fixed and all of a sudden this has happened??? i dont suppose its dumped a load of water/meth into the motor for any reason.... ?? not often we see the HG fail on these and we have plenty of high mileage units WITH boost still running.... Have you had lots of rain or run a huge puddle?? (wondering why you think its hydro-locked?) anymore details on the variables would be great??? Whats your mileage now??

if worst comes to worst and the head gaskets done..... i'd use this time to rebuild the motor top to bottom.... can you afford that right now or out of the question??

I had very little meth left in the tank the night last night, but I guess its a possibility it was all leaked into the pipes overnight, and then dumped into the engine this morning. I'm gonna take apart my boost pipe and see if any of it pooled.
I checked the oil dipstick, and thankfully didn't see any water. I'm gonna disconnect my meth kit fully, and check the wiring to make sure the ignition wire its sharing is OK. Thankfully this didn't happen while I was hammering on the car, it just happened after the car sat overnight in the rain. Maybe it gulped up some moisture somewhere. I have no idea, just gonna do a quick meth kit check and then try to start the car again... If it doesn't start, I won't take anything apart, and just tow it to a shop tomorrow. Unfortunately I'm new in town, so I'll have to do some reasearch of local specialists. I really hope its nothing serious, I guess I could rebuild whatever it needs, but it would be on borrowed money
