First of all, hope your friend makes a full recover. Second, I'm not a lawyer but I would advise you to keep the details to a minimum. This is a public forum, and should anything unfortunate happen to your friend, or for whatever reason his family choose to file legal action against you, not only are you going to be carrying that guilt for the rest of your life, but you may also have legal consequences to face IF any of this information were to be made available to the prosecuting attorneys.
Next, I suggest some car control clinic with your local club with whatever car you will be getting next. Not saying it's going to prevent stuff like this from happening, just saying it'll DECREASE the odds. I have not felt compelled to speed in about 8 years, since knowing what 120mph in a sweeper actually feels like vs. going 80+ on a freeway.

I am really sorry about the person who is hurt. However, I can't help making the point that cars don't just lose traction and drive themselves off the road. If the road conditions are not entirely visible, if there are significant unknowns, then it is best to be conservative. When one loses control of the car, one can take others out with him/her--including people who might be in another car. I say this as someone who has been on both sides of the equation. I lost a family member in a traffic accident; the car travelling in the other direction lost control on an undivided highway. And, I hit a pedastrian in the dark while making a turn a long time ago. I was doing ~15mph, but should have been more careful regardless. Fortunately, the injuries were minor, but could have been much worse...Being in either sitaution is hell. Now, I am liberal only if I am on a wide road with lots of visibility, or on the track. Anyway, again, I really hope that the injured person recovers and people can move on...

I wish you and Carlos a speedy recovery. I do have to say though that I agree with some others here - you're giving information that can very likely be used against you in a lawsuit. I'd ask one of the admins to delete this thread or something similar.
